New York in winter has its own kind of magic❄️ The streets feel quieter after a snowfall, Whether it’s Central Park dusted in white or warming up with hot coffee in a tiny café, NYC somehow feels both tougher and more romantic this time of year🗽

There’s something quietly powerful about seeing these side by side Van Gogh grounding us in human labor and hope, while Signac lets light and color do the talking🖌️🤍 Which one pulls you in more at first glance?

It’s not just about TikTok anymore, but about whether U.S. laws mean the same thing when they’re inconvenient

#RuleOfLaw #GlobalTrust #BigImplications
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

“If the president can stretch a bipartisan law forcing TikTok’s sale,” write Jim Secreto and Brett Freedman, “allies and adversaries alike will assume that America will no longer enforce its security laws when it is easier not to.”
Opinion | Trump’s TikTok Deal Won’t Protect National Security
Trump’s deal preserves many of the ties to China that the law was designed to sever.

That’s a bold thing to say, especially when the Fed is supposed to stand a little apart from politics.

#EconomicTalk #FederalReserve #PoliticsAndPower
President Trump said on Tuesday he wants the next chairman of the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates if the markets are doing well, adding that "anybody that disagrees with me will never be the Fed Chairman."

How can they still claim the information is untrue?

Do you think these numbers actually mean things will get cheaper for us soon
December 23, 2025 at 7:19 PM
I honestly don’t know what we’d do without independent voices right now, because the big outlets definitely aren't telling us the whole truth
Unfortunately, telling truth to power isn’t cheap. Our smart, fearless journalism is only possible with donations from readers like you.

If you can, leave us a donation today! We'd really appreciate it 🫶

Most of us have to save up for months just for a small vacation, and they're out here treats jets like Uber
December 23, 2025 at 7:09 PM
Honestly, it shouldn't be this hard to just let people keep their health insurance without it costing a fortune. We really need to keep the pressure on them
Trump lackey Mike Johnson is super pissed that we were able to force a vote on extending ACA tax credits.

Imagine how mad he’ll be when we get it passed. Make your voice heard and demand that Congress vote yes on this as soon as they come back:
Tell Congress: Demand Speaker Johnson hold a vote IMMEDIATELY on the ACA tax credit extension

It definitely feels like a lot of people are rethinking what they expected from him. Politics can get so messy when expectations and reality don’t line up
Trump’s problem is that so many Americans — including his MAGA base — believed that he’d expose a powerful global elite.

But every day it's becoming more and more clear that Trump is part of that global elite.

Expect him to lash out as the walls close in.

Small communities would definitely feel the impact first if things start shifting like that
Very good point...I think it'll be the small towns and rural areas that find out first. Places like where I was reared...places that voted for Trump...when those small colleges close because the R1s "take" their students 'cause the research money to, say, cure cancer has dried up, they'll find out.

That’s a huge change after all these years. It’s hard to imagine them anywhere else
December 23, 2025 at 6:47 PM
Sometimes it feels like the history gets a little mixed up along the way

It’s definitely understandable that survivors have to be careful about what they share
I'm sure the survivors could do a bang-up job dropping details of some specifics and perhaps alluding to names of individuals they had experiences with and/or witnessed. I know that will not reveal specific names because their safety is truly at risk. But SOME details might get others digging!
December 23, 2025 at 6:44 PM
It’s good you took a moment to think about the impact
I deleted my post about alleged letter from Epstein to Nassar because I’m concerned about its authenticity and I’m worried that sharing it may help the DoJ damage the credibility of other documents if it turns out to be a forgery.

Interesting, even a small uptick can say a lot about how the economy’s moving
December 23, 2025 at 6:39 PM
It really does feel like a lot of people are worried about where things are heading
The uncertainty can be exhausting. What worries you the most about the next few years?

It’s true that these systems have limitations, especially when people expect them to work like search engines.
It’s not really a search engine though, even if it similarly tokenizes words, phrases and information. Eventually it randomly strings together tangentially or outright hallucinated information the more you try to ask questions. a lot of resources being used for diminishing returns to humanity

That’s such a huge amount of money to just overlook
It’s one thing for a ‘cowboy’ investor like Ballmer positions himself to be getting duped on a private investment, but what does a storied professional investor have to say? They made their money investing in deep, liquid capital markets. And they just nonchalantly lose $250M on this?!?!
December 23, 2025 at 6:33 PM
Anytime new documents come out, it brings up so many questions about what really happened.
tRump's DOJ just released additional Epstein files today. "Victims" have been redacted to protect their identity.
