Just finished "Pale Fire" and I convinced the whole book is an unintentional self own. Nabokov's book is haunted by his hatred of Freud and Marx in ways that really validate many of the ideas of both.

One of the revealing aspects of X is that now right wingers are far more comfortable sharing their ideas, which seem to boil down to "I want to fantasize about gunning down the homeless and women with blue hair in the streets while continuing to live in a liberal consumer society."

I am always shocked that people assume I am straight despite plenty of evidence to the contrary.
