Special shout-out to hunt follower David Evans who has moved on from “I hope you’re all paying your VAT!” to entertaining us with rants about drone licensing, which he seems to know even less about than taxes. 12/15

However, intervention by sabs ensured that neither of the foxes who were hunted to ground were dug out and killed. Terrier boys Jake Crabb and Tom Bounsall were sat idle on their quadbike alongside equally jobless hunt lackey Jade all day. 11/15

Two foxes were marked to ground over the course of the day. One of these marks was in a small earth in a hedge near the meet, which Jason allowed the hounds to cause considerable damage to by digging. 10/15

Several hounds ended up scattered as far south as Horridge while Jason and the bulk of the pack carried on drawing northwards before finishing at Goodcott and hacking back to the meet. 09/15

After hounds chased a sheep to death in this exact area just a few weeks ago, we’re not surprised she was concerned! 08/15

Instead of stopping them, Jason hunted hounds on all along this route. The busy stretch of the A3124 at Dolton Beacon was forced to a standstill when Jason eventually gathered the pack on the main road. Fortunately the fox got away. 05/15

Jason spent the day drawing one field of beets/brassicas after another, as well as the woods at Dolton Beacon and Shear’s Wood and the valleys between Northcott, Furze and Bolts. 03/15

A small team of us kept eyes on them the entire day. Several foxes were seen by our drone, their escape aided by the intervention of foot sabs on the ground. 02/15

Eggesford Hunt 17.11.25

The hunt met at Middleton’s Westacott Barton in Riddlecombe for a Monday of terrorising wildlife and local people around Riddlecombe and Ashreigney. 🧵🦊 01/15
December 2, 2025 at 3:52 PM
The hunt returned to Hatherleigh Moor for the last part of the day, although only briefly drawing coverts on the moor itself before heading north and into the woods between Brook’s Moorhead and Fishleigh Castle. 12/18
December 1, 2025 at 9:05 PM
Having not had much luck with the foxes so far, terrier boy Tom Bounsall tried to show off to his new love interest Jade and the group of kids on horses nearby by driving his quadbike at sabs at high speed across the field, narrowly avoiding causing a serious collision. 11/18
December 1, 2025 at 9:05 PM
The hunt eventually moved south to another patch of dense covert around Teachmore Farm before returning to Broomford via Combe. 10/18

The next few hours were spent around Broomford Manor, one of Eggesford’s favourite spots. Our drone hovered over the woods, spotting foxes and deer as they fled into the surrounding fields and communicating their location to our foot teams on the ground. 09/18

The speed at which Jason and his lackeys were trying to gather hounds back to them north of Becka Moor leads us to suspect they probably didn’t have permission to be on that land! 08/18
December 1, 2025 at 9:05 PM
Fortunately hounds mostly kept drawing a blank until they got to the edge of the moor at Deckport Farm, where they chased a fox south to Merryland Stream and Becka Moor. 05/18
December 1, 2025 at 9:05 PM
The first hour was spent on the moor, with huntsman Jason Marles casting hounds into very dense covert, exactly the kinds of places where foxes would lie up. You can see several examples of this in our drone shots. 04/18

Based on the conversations we had with locals all around Hatherleigh Moor, most Hatherleigh residents are utterly fed up of the hunt’s presence. 03/18
December 1, 2025 at 9:05 PM
This is usually their annual Hatherleigh Carnival meet, and although the carnival committee have finally decided that inviting wildlife criminals to their event isn’t a good look, the hunt still meet in the town square outside the George Inn on carnival day. 02/18

Eggesford Hunt 08.11.25

For the second time in a week, Eggesford Hunt returned to Hatherleigh to terrorise wildlife on the County Wildlife Site at Hatherleigh Moor and the surrounding area. 🧵🦊 01/18
December 1, 2025 at 9:05 PM
He was screaming something about private property and how sabs must leave immediately. Fortunately for this chap’s blood pressure, sabs were already on their way out. 14/17
December 1, 2025 at 4:31 PM
Obviously frustrated with the lack of action from the day, one of the quad riders decided it was time to put his big boy panties on, as he rode his quadbike at speed towards sabs. 13/17

James continued through the farm, sending hounds into the nearby copse and the woodland to the east. After not picking up on anything, the call was made for home time, and the hunt began to drag themselves back to the meet. 12/17
December 1, 2025 at 4:31 PM
With all the energy put into trudging through fields thick with mud, James must have hoped the hounds would give him something in return, but they drew a blank. He crossed the road to the south and remounted to hunt the banks of the River Torridge at nearby Hele Barton farm. 11/17
December 1, 2025 at 4:31 PM
Completely giving up on the idea of gathering the last half a dozen or so hounds, James decided he’d have more luck hunting on foot through the wooded valley north of Rockhay Bridge. 10/17
December 1, 2025 at 4:31 PM
A good chunk of time had passed standing around watching hounds running around the nearby fields smelling various different piles of muck when Ben Vincent took it upon himself to gather nearby hounds and meet up with James by the roadside. 07/17
