A fan favorite Thanksgiving story from the Library: In 1926, Mississippi supporters of President Coolidge sent him a raccoon to kill & serve for Thanksgiving dinner. The Coolidges adopted her, instead.👇

Watching The Joy of Painting and can’t get over the plot twist where Bob pulls out his friend, Peep. A baby robin who has been there out of frame the whole entire episode.

Where were conservatives decrying political violence when Melissa and Mark Hortmann were murdered in their home? Where is the outcry of gun violence from conservatives when children are shot in their schools?

I love it when streamers dismiss the note that says “hey, you might want to grab a pen and paper for this game” and then several hours later go “hold on I need to go grab a pen”

HAPPY TAX DAY!
How much would you spend on a year of tornado warnings? The average US taxpayer spends only $4 a year to help fund the NWS. It’s a smart investment—every $1 invested in NWS yields approx. $73 in social benefits.
🌪️❄️ Support science. Support the NWS.

The problem with most machine-based random number generators is that they’re not TRULY random, so if you need genuine randomness it is sometimes necessary to link your code to an external random process like a physical noise source or the current rate of US tariffs on a given country.

One thing everyone should understand is that DOGE has created the least efficient conditions for government I've ever seen.
*The working conditions are chaotic.
*No clear sense of who works there.
*Routine processes have been stopped.
*No planning can take place.
*People are incredibly demoralized.
“Nobody feels like their job is safe. Everyone is on edge,” said Kim Hasenkrug, an NIH scientist emeritus… “Even the top people can’t keep track because they’re hiring and firing so much. Direct supervisors of those who were terminated didn’t even know that it was happening.”
At NIH, ‘everyone is on edge’ as they brace for deep cuts and more centralized control
As the NIH braces for cuts of up to 5,000 of its 20,000 positions, “people are scrambling and freaking out,” a researcher said.
