Somewhere between 10 and 20% of patients have EGFR+ lung cancer. It’s more common in women and people of Asian descent. It occurs often in a different part of the lung than a smoking-related cancer (mine was in my upper left lung). Thankfully, there are targeted genetic drugs, like the one I take.

I have a couple of friends who also have lung cancer throughout their families. May I ask which mutation runs in your family?
