(living in a country where the most successful people are obscenely rich and shameless perverts and psychopaths) Time to teach my children to be honest and study hard in school

Have heard of pastors leaving their work because the congregation gets mad whenever they quote the 'woke' parts of Jesus' message. They're getting pushback for Sermon on the Mount stuff.

the "tax the billionaires" political refrain is Good Actually in part because it is a call for the people at the top to actually be constrained by rules informed by the public interest, a virtue that fingerwagging correctives about how much revenue such taxes would *really* generate doesn't address

Any idea what his post-2025 plans are? Resigning with us, or moving on? Or do we not really know yet?

I grew up in Lions household. Could always tell when football season had started up by the sound of my dad yelling at the tv.

*Tears in my eyes, speaking through sniffles* It's...it's like we're a real football league now

That's only in triumph. If you lose all bets are off.

Common tactic of the chronically unreflective and insecure.

The post-Heath era was a bit frightening at first (no coach going into 2024!) but as things have settled we seem to have built a really solid foundation that feels pretty robust. How we keep growing it to take that next step is another question, but at the very least our floor feels pretty high.

We also have a lot of guys either nearing the end of a contract or starting to get substantial European attention/interest (including our coach), so some apprehension about what happens this winter. Overall direction seems healthy though.

Table don't lie, but still lots of questions about our ability to score in ways other than defend-and-counter. Also losing Tani is huge (although everyone's happy for him). General optimism about the new signings. Overall I think everyone's happy/impressed, but also wondering about 'the next step.'

My main takeaway on Portland (as a MN fan) is that Velde was a good signing. Looks like he'll elevate the team really well.

What would be some things to look out for that the possibility of pro/rel might affect in these sorts of negotiations? Curious to know how that would factor into the interests of players/the clubs/the league

Genuinely struggling to wrap my mind around that being the physical bar...

Guaranteed through 2025, with 2026 as a club option.

I think it's more about preparing replacements for a winter move. Bogert said MN are looking to keep JP through this season at least, although a move does seem imminent. He's really exploded this year.

Not saying it's good they (or anyone) should be expected to do it for free, I just wonder how much of that discourse was unrealistic expectations of a version of the industry that no longer exists, and if the solution needed to involve less individualism and more solidarity.

That is one thing I wondered about that discourse of guys claiming no one would pick up their novels/where have all the literary men gone? Wanna know how much they were asking for drafts and manuscripts and advances.
