One thing I love about Japan is that I get push notifications about things like Kitagawa Susumu winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. I know there are troubling nationalistic elements about it, but I like the fact that Nobel prizes in science are treated this seriously.

Taught big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) in class today, one of the most amazing parts of cosmology. The early Universe is bathed in photons, so much so that it’s impossible for fusion of H into He to start until ~2.5 minutes after the Big Bang. By then, it’s also too diffuse for He to fuse to H. 1/ 🧪

Not sure if you know the band, Grey Eye Glances. They had a hot minute of popularity at Barnes & Noble stores around the Philly suburbs and on 88.5 WXPN. I remember wearing out my CD of A Little Voodoo (2002) while in college at St. Joe’s.
