I was so excited to find these tulips at Trader Joe's. As I was unwrapping them, I noticed this labeling and had to pause and laugh. I think our Canadian friends are worried about our mental acuity. #traderjoes #canada

Trump will continue doing serious damage.

But his administration will also continue making mistakes if we keep fighting back.

A strong civil society is always the last line of defense against tyrants, and it’s up to all of us to make sure independent advocacy groups, think tanks, public interest groups & watchdogs have the resources they need to keep up the fight. Please consider supporting our nationwide organizing work.

SHARE WIDELY.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.

One thing before tomorrow:

Use your local libraries.

Get your card.

Borrow books, manga, films, audios, ebooks.

Recommend titles for purchase (usually online).

Attend promoted activities.

Fill out those "How are we doing?" questionnaires.

Tell your kids that libraries are good.

They are.

We are about to enter an era of extreme and dangerous culture war in the United States. How do we protect our communities and work toward a cultural ceasefire? In this piece I wrote a couple months ago, I offer one possible path. wapo.st/40q1BDn
Opinion | Libraries can help end the culture wars. That’s why they’re under fire.
Nothing threatens authoritarianism like a free, quiet place to absorb a full range of information.

Here's the thing about TikTok. It helped us learn we aren't alone. We have confirmation that friends and communities believe in and respect and support each other's choices, needs, and beliefs. The app may be dark but we are not. Stand strong.
