So tempting to “look on the bright side of life”. 😕
A part of it, I think, is *because* such decisions are so stupid, immediate, and permanent in their impact. Not something you can reverse by having even early second thoughts about.
Another reason: People are bored. Burning down the world sounds fun.
A relentless thing I hear over and over again from UK politicos is that the Brexit referendum was an immutable, ironclad, permanent forever mandate, like signing a contract in blood.
No mind-changing allowed. No oops. Britain’s “forever will”.
It’s immediately clear why techbros hate her, and it has only a little to do with policy.
The irrational rage of middle-aged men toward young, confident, powerful women is a tale as old as time. One doesn’t need to be liberal or woke to see it.
He clearly saw Democrats as his mortal enemy and an existential threat to the world, and buying Twitter as a first step in their destruction. All else were details and gravy.
In short, his motives basically dominate any discussion of his tactics.
