📣 Germany's close to reversing its opposition to mass surveillance & private message scanning, & backing the Chat Control bill. This could end private comms-& Signal-in the EU.

Time's short and they're counting on obscurity: please let German politicians know how horrifying their reversal would be.

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...

Finally, a breakthrough! Following a letter I initiated in February, @ec.europa.eu is backing the #Eurostack initiative to develop alternative European digital solutions.

Looking forward to seeing this turned into concrete action to break free from Trump and tech oligarchs.

To use digital technologies and AI without feeding billionaires with public data and money, and for workers to have a say over their job, EU Apply AI strategy must include

- EU public digital infrastructures

New & emerging technologies must comply with intl human rights & humanitarian law. At #HRC60 the 🇪🇺 underlined that human judgment & accountability must always prevail - incl. in the military use of AI - to ensure responsible, rights-based innovation.

Discourses around digital sovereignty and public infrastructure often ignore workers' needs and the positive role of publicly and worker-owned infrastructure. If more unions join this call, there are chances to make a difference and create a more democratic digital public infrastructure.

🌨️Europe can’t rely on private tech giants for public services.

EPSU is calling for worker-owned & public clouds, full implementation of the AI Act, and workers’ say in digitalisation.

Public servants want 'worker-owned' European clouds for AI | Euractiv
Call for sovereign AI by the EPSU public servants' union also presses the Commission to give workers a say in how workplaces are digitised, per letter seen by Euractiv

There is no organization called "antifa" - so, why label a non-existent group "terrorists"?

This gives the regime maximum scope to hunt down opposition and critics. They label you "antifa", and then they come for you.

Trump says he plans to designate antifa as ‘major terrorist organization’
It is unclear how anti-fascists, an umbrella term for far-left-leaning groups rather than a single entity, will be labeled

Reconnaître la #Palestine ne fera pas cesser #génocide & #apartheid de son peuple, @jnbarrot.bsky.social. Il faut agir urgemment et concrètement:
–Interdire le commerce avec les colonies
–Sanctionner le gouv IL
–Suspendre accords UE/FR-IL
–Arrêter les armes
–Soutenir la CPI

My latest article in Social Europe:

The EC argues that Europe must focus on innovation, with regulatory simplification at the centre. This reflects a profound misunderstanding of what innovation actually needs: not regulatory chaos, but a clear one

After 9/11, there was an explosion of surveillance technologies advancing mass monitoring under the guise of security.

Today, we’re watching a similar shift in defence technology.
