Another interesting piece of Dutch history writing entered my collection today. Batavia Illustrata by Simon van Leeuwen, published in 1685.

As a child, I read them (over and over again) in Dutch, my native language. Now, after reading the poetry of Tolkien, I treated myself on the deluxe edition in English. It's beautifully written and I'm falling in love with those stories again. #Tolkien

Acquired a bit of a worn copy of The Natural History of Cranes by Edward Blyth and enlarged and reprinted by W.B. Tegetmeier. What makes it really interesting is the letter written by the latter, I found in the book. If anyone has some info for me on that, I'd be grateful. #cranes #ornithology

New in the collection: J.F. Martinet, Katechismus Der Natuur.
Creationism from the year 1777. It's a bit hilarious but scientifically more accurate than I would have imagined. Interesting read!

A recent addition to my collection. A (real, Italian) first edition of Codex Seraphinianus. Throws me back to my childhood by reliving the feeling of leafing trough incomprehensible books, and the urge I felt to uncover the mysteries they hold. Guess that made me a bibliophile :-)
