Between Apple Intelligence and MacOS26 + ios26, the last few years from Apple software teams have been a flop. They are just riding on the quality of their hardware team. I don't know who'd be buying Apple stock right now other than Apple itself.

MacOS26 and iOS26 is the worst shit I’ve seen in a long time from Apple and I don’t mean the design. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Apple release with so little care and attention to detail.

Seeing European Defense stocks flying high makes me mighty suspicious from an investor perspective. What's to like here? One customer (government), huge opportunity for grift, potentially massive misallocation of capital with only the connected elites making money.

Social media usage update: Only use BlueSky and Twitter (would like to dump Twitter but it has some interesting people to follow in finance world that are not on BlueSky). Thankfully got myself off all the $META digital drugs and junk a while ago, except WhatsApp.

One interesting bull case for $GOOG keeping their search traffic intact is people double checking on $GOOG info produced by LLMs. I wonder if there’s any data on that?

Another day like today in the markets and Trump might get impeached, lol.

I am probably early but I am buying GOOG and AMZN here.

Massive moves in Euro bond markets just on an announcement of bigger military spending. It'll take them 10 years or more to ramp up industrial production to required levels but everyone will pay higher rates for all debt starting now. #investing

META is approaching 650 again after my call almost 30 days ago, NVDA still hasn't broken 140 after my call from 6 months ago. I don't really see anything changing on this front for the next 3 months or so. What we have in front is a period of digestion or mild pullbacks for most of the AI darlings.

Newsletter: The tech industry has turned on the consumer, using abusive, manipulative software as a means of extracting wealth from every corner of our lives. Both society and the tech media must fight back, as I believe many of us deeply love our tech.

Anthropic CEO claiming DeepSeek is somehow "unsafe" or all the people asking it questions about some square in China seem to miss the point. It's a high quality LLM that's truly open source, you can do whatever you want with it. You want some different answers? Go tweak it.
February 7, 2025 at 9:36 AM
For the average AI consumer, most of the recent LLM models are about the same and switching costs are 0. So obviously everyone wants to use DeepSeek, it's 95% cheaper to use. We are going towards free or near-free LLM pricing in the near future unless somebody comes up with AGI or a big improvement.

Looks like some big players are sitting with their fingers on the sell trigger. They don’t want to stop playing while the music is on but also don’t want to be late to the exit. Not easy to do without some fireworks when everyone owns the same 5 - 7 stocks in size. #investing

Also, if you think DeepSeek is forcing a rethink, let's think about the elephant in the room. AI agents are coming, but I don't think it's going to be the trillion dollar bonanza some are expecting. I think it will be the biggest push towards democratization of internet since internet.

Looks like Zuckerberg is back to his “spend baby spend mode”. With META hitting 650 I think he feels like they’ve got a lot of money to spend so he’s going to do just that. Going to call a local top here for META, I think it’s not going anywhere for the next 6 months or more. #investing

Even ChatGPT thinks that the trough of disillusionment will start in 2025 or thereabouts. Case closed. Jokes aside, I don’t have a crystal ball and maybe the next stop is AGI and SkyNet. #investing

With all the AI infrastructure spending would be nice to see AI revenues too. Funnily enough my NVDA call from June 2024 has been ballpark correct. The high was around 140 then and we just hit 147 after today with 4.5% move more than 6 month later. #investing

Seems like the main crypto use case right now is decentralized and deregulated global gambling. I think there’s a reason why that’s not something permitted in every town in the world. I don’t see how memecoins and the like don’t get banned sooner or later, time will tell.
