Here for history, TTRPGs & GMing, alternate worlds, social work, animal pix, occasional bloviating.
I’m sure the numbers say this but man, I must be insanely out of touch then. I have zero interest in short form video, *especially* news/journalism stuff. Like nails on chalkboard for me.

Go Birds.

But it doesn't really do that. There aren't any negatives or real dynamism to it, they just level up with increasingly powerful abilities. There are *so many* other mechanics they could have explored. But they knew a certain % of the playerbase would eat it up.

I think he's referring more to stuff (as I mentioned elsewhere in this thread) like the Nazi Inner Circle mechanics, where you level up guys like Goebbels & Himmler to unlock their special powers. Completely unnecessary, especially since the dev team didn't do this for any other WW2 figures.

To be clear no other country/faction in the game has this mechanic, just that little club of genocidal sociopaths.

I love the Hitler's Inner Circle minigame they added, where you mix & match and then literally level-up notorious war Nazi criminals to increase their powers like they're Pokemon.

It's pretty cool, dude is in that rare company of writers who created a specific character or concept (BIG BROTHER) that is now a common term independent of the source material! Joining Catch-22, Frankenstein, Jekyll & Hyde, maybe Utopia and a few others? Pantheon level stuff.

Is the weird text there a quote from the movie? Some other reference?

From my experience (social work, crisis intervention, etc) I think at the start he’s clearly shaken recollecting the incident, then in real-time seamlessly channels it into righteous fury. It’s very impressive actually! I assume whatever he does for a living involves keeping people chill & focused.

Literally early-mid stage Sith Lord makeup & costume. Amazing stuff.

The whole not being aware most Americans do actually need to see their PCP before a specialist is kind of remarkable.
December 12, 2025 at 6:08 AM
I’m sure a ton of people are posting this same thing, but for us regular peons most specialists already do require an appointment, approval, & referral from our primary care provider first. This is the norm. Basic adult knowledge.

Great movie, but the fake “omg most straightforward movie ever” pearl clutching here is kinda posturing. Movie riffs on some clear themes, but plenty is left unsaid or to the imagination & the ending is intentionally abrupt in a way that’s self conscious & artsy. It’s just not to everyone’s taste.
December 11, 2025 at 2:37 AM
Yeah, I’ve seen very specific examples of employers making really arbitrary & unreasonable policy changes & worker demands recently, stuff that wouldn’t have flown 4 years ago. And employees are largely eating it, b/c they need a stable job.
December 10, 2025 at 9:57 PM
I can’t rec this enough. Positive reinforcement is so powerful, and we don’t give enough of it these days.
December 10, 2025 at 9:53 PM
I know that’s conventional wisdom. But in the past 5ish years it was much easier to just have a solid resume & at least get an interview. It will likely just get lost in the pile now. Sucks.

#1 would be, if you have a tolerable job don’t quit right now without another offer 😐. Otherwise assume that applicant pools are much larger & w/overqualified folks, so we’ve got to make even more effort to stand out & present our skills/quals as directly appropriate for the job.
December 10, 2025 at 8:06 PM
It's all gone now tho. Competition is orders of magnitude tougher. In some fields the applicant pool seems legit flooded, & if you don't have standout relevant experience or skills you're screwed. At my org we posted a couple entry-level jobs this month - IIRC have received 300+ apps for them.

About 40% of my job is helping low-income clients w/employment searches. Hard to overstate how awesome the market was for job seekers in that 2020-23ish period. But IMO a ton of young people just had ZERO experience w/actual bad job markets, & collectively made up a social media fueled alt reality.

There were a few big ones, but nowhere near 20 kt. I think you might be reading pounds as tons (of explosives). Even the famous 19 Messines Ridge blasts totaled like .4kt.

From "nationality might give it away" I'd guess Merkava, not sure w/o cheating tho.

Jagdpanther?

The journalists defending her keep referring to her as physically "beautiful", like it's some precious characteristic she's being punished for or that we need to acknowledge. It's strange b/c outside of being white, blonde, in her 20-30s & normally proportioned, she... isn't?
December 9, 2025 at 2:06 AM
So much this! The pendulum of genre fiction in general - sci fi, horror, fantasy, rom, etc - has really swung too far. Good stuff (honestly in the minority TBF) used to be unfairly dismissed as pulp, but now fans demand mediocre stuff be considered way deeper or better written than it is.
December 7, 2025 at 11:17 PM
Yeah, I stopped playing b/c it would just suck the hours away, but once you learn the gameplay you're not doing anything new or creative most runs. It's not as good as it seems at first.
