There’s only one way out of it and sorry but it’s cringe. Vote Blue No Matter Who until the GOP is decimated beyond repair. Rebuild the country and primary the fuck out of any Dem who is squeamish, mentions the word bipartisanship, wants to fund Israel or ICE, etc.

Behind the scenes, GOP members of congress are afraid Trump is going to go too far and destroy the party. But he’s also given them plenty of reasons to sit quiet and wait for things to blow over. A vast anti-MAGA coalition could’ve made them pay for that but it hasn’t materialized. Shame on us.

You can make all the demands you want. Shut down the government again but the GOP ain’t giving in and saying “ok, let’s do what the minority party says and abolish ICE because our polls are bad.” That’s fan fiction.

Are the Dems ineffectual? Yes, they are. But replace Schumer and everyone else like him with effective, sharp, progressive politicians and you still wind up with not enough power to stop this. It sucks but it’s true.
