The Entombment of Christ - Rembrandt van Rijn

11. Saint Bride by John Duncan
A painting by John Duncan of Saint Bride. She is being carried to heaven by two pre-Raphaelite angels with yellow halos and multicoloured wings. She is wearing a simple white shift while they are dressed in long ornate robes with biblical scenes (?) embroidered onto them. Realised I hadn't yet posted a picture of my first(!) tattoo. Mae at www.snakeandcranetattoo.com was an absolute joy to work with and the detail is incredible.

In case you're wondering, it's based on an image from Le Morte d'Arthur by Aubrey Beardsley, because I am nothing if not pretentious.

The scene in Let The Right One In when a character who's becoming a vampire is attacked by a crazy cat guy's crazy cats.
A woman on a date was clearly very upset by it and rushed out in tears. Her date slowly, reluctantly trudged after her, mournfully looking up at the screen as he left.
Two unfortunately unconvincing CGI cats cling to a cowboy-booted woman's legs, clearly intent on biting her. The image comes from the Swedish film Let The Right One In, which is otherwise excellent.

Go visit the small (but perfectly formed) Fragment Found exhibition at Make it Glasgow if you can. It's great.

A selction of sherds sitting on a plain wooden surface. Each have broken edges and a degree of crackling. All have "Fragment Found" printed on them in the colours most often associated with Chinoiserie. They form part of the Fragment Found/A Possible History exhibition running until the 24th of July 2025.

His hair is a greasy brown mop. In isolation he started cooking and came up with a fast food pasta creation known as "Piccolini Cuscino". It sounds appalling. Here's an excerpt from the interview with GQ where he tried to recreate it: He puts the aluminum sphere, the little pillow, into what he thinks is an oven and I think is a microwave. He attempts to turn it on. “I actually knew how to do this before,” he tells me. “I literally did this yesterday. And now it’s just impossible. It’s going to look like I can’t cook at all.”

In a popular series of books by a well known writer dealing with contemporary culture and the fantastical, the description of one character as being dressed in "Neil Gaiman black" should not be a thing in the year of our lord 2025. Unless he's a shit. And even then, maybe just don't.
