The spin on it as well … ‘feminist group targeted by trans activists’ and then the comments that follow about ‘violent men’. Hello, did we forget the suffragettes used bombs and attacked people and horses?

1/🧵 If sexual orientation can somehow vitiate consent, then consider this: if a woman consents to sex only with a man who is recognised as a “Supreme Court homosexual”, after sex he confessed he pretends to be one, could she send him to prison for rape?
pogglerebecca.bsky.social
That's one thing we can unequivocally agree on.
pogglerebecca.bsky.social
One sentence would absolutely repair the act, and the fact that Labour are too far-right to consider this is absolutely on them, but you can't excuse the actions of the SC in all this.

This and their actions leading up to the ruling is enough proof for me to see it as ideologically driven.
pogglerebecca.bsky.social
Yeah for sure it would be really easy to fix what was pretty clear and settled 15 year old law.

The point is that imo if anti-LGBT extremists weren't hammering away at literally every avenue of trans exclusion, then this would never have been ruled this way. Ever.
pogglerebecca.bsky.social
In my opinion, there's basically no way this would be misinterpreted by anybody without an axe to grind, and anybody claiming that the EqA2010 never intended to be inclusive of trans people is a fucking liar trying to cover up this axe grinding.
pogglerebecca.bsky.social
That then leads on to the GRA, that explicitly says that someone with a GRC is their reassigned sex for all purposes.
pogglerebecca.bsky.social
If someone can't reassign their sex like the SC claims, how is it that people with gender reassignment are defined as people who have reassigned their sex?
pogglerebecca.bsky.social
I'm EqA2010, under "gender reassignment" it says that someone with this characteristics is someone who is "proposing to undergo, are undergoing, or have undergone a process (or part of a process) for the purpose of reassigning their sex.”
pogglerebecca.bsky.social
I'm not ruling that out, but if someone tells someone to punch you, you can't say the person who then punched you bears no blame.

The SC intentionally misinterpreted the EqA2010. Whether they did it at the behest of someone else or not, they still did it.
pogglerebecca.bsky.social
While it's true that Labour could attempt to fix the EqA2010, it's completely possible that the SC will just "nah" through the repair and say that sex is again this nebulous "biological sex" that nobody can define, other than to exclude those 'icky tr*nny freaks' from public life.
pogglerebecca.bsky.social
As much as I would like to blame Labour for this mess, the Supreme Court's decision was contradicted in the very piece of legislation they were ruling on.

The EqA2010 is quite explicit under the section under gender reassignment that a trans woman is a woman and trans man is a man for all purposes.

This is happening right now, across the UK – affecting thousands of young Trans+ people who are simply trying to be themselves and thrive

Young Trans+ people being inflicted with unspeakable mental and physical suffering

And all the while, anti-trans medical professionals, media figures,..

Ever since I finished Question Time, Reform have massively been on the attack.

Including a rant from Richard Tice entirely designed to distract from Reform and Russia.

Everyone should know about Nathan Gill, the bribes from Russia and the link to Reform.

British people look at people like Alan Turing, who committed suicide because the British government refused to allow him his humanity, and they will rightly blame the government.

Those same people will look at the same thing happening to trans people for the same reasons and blame trans people.

The thing that really grinds the gears of far-right Christians is that even left-wing atheists are better Christians than they are.

They go to the building and say the words out of fear, but others go into the world and do the deeds out of kindness.

1) "trans activists", she means normal trans people
2) "do next" implies that trans people have actually done anything wrong when we haven't
3) if you spend 21 years harassing, bullying and vilifying *any* innocent people, there's a chance they might snap, so maybe cut it the fuck out?

apparently the new Netflix show Monster: The Ed Gein Story invented an "autogynephilia" backstory for their serial killer (because of course they did!). so time to re-up my collection of writings on this pseudoscientific zombie theory...

People surprised that some formerly sensible left-leaning or liberal women are now apparently full of admiration for white supremacists, rapists and genocide might note that their entry point for far right radicalisation was invariably a belief that transphobia is ‘feminist’. Just saying.
pogglerebecca.bsky.social
And how fully.

Trans people are an innocent minority, but transphobia makes people refuse to believe the evidence of their eyes and think all sorts of nonsense about trans people, seemingly for the rest of their lives. Proper brain rot.
