Got me long term employment, gave me a platform for others to reach out when they ask for help with mentoring. Was the only way I ever got a connections to the grater dev and art community that I would never of found without it. I still see positivity in these spaces.

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

Going to an early screen of Tron: Ares tonight. Ready to see some more Jeff Bridges Jesus talking about that sweet bio digital jazz.
Tron mug that says "Greetings Programs" across the front with a blue and black grid in the background and several red "recognizers" hovering dramatically. The mug is being held in front of a Tron: Legacy themed background.

Oh what a shame, this is a great topic to explore.

There must be dozens of great game or movie concepts that haven't seen the light of day in recent years so as not to offend fascists. 😤

At least there is Indy. The last game was awesome and I never got tired of killing Nazis with a toilet brush.

That would have truly been a miracle from molecules 😔

Alien Isolation was released 11 years ago today!
And so it has been a year since a sequel was announced.

So it's a good day to make this oral history of the making of Alien: Isolation available to everyone. 🖖

Built this cute lil' cozy kitchen in Block Block Block last night. I highly recommend checking out the demo on steam. It's so satisfying and chill. Plus, as an artist, it's a really fun way to *block* out ideas. 😉

I'm so sorry, we had some tough back and forth visits to the vet with our cat Snow a couple months ago. Everything worked out and she is doing well now though.

Having to take them back always is extra stressful, hope she is doing better. Hang in there. ♥️

Created a new version of my portfolio animation showcasing some of the sci-fi weapons I designed for Rogue Ascent VR. Now it cycles through the weapons and has the specific themed attachments I made pop up around each one. 😄

This looks so cool!

I'm glad I'm not the only crazy person who goes to the park to try and get a look at things for reference. I'm sure the people on the tram with me thought I was insane when I was taking pictures of the screws on the doors. 😂

Give folks their flowers

No, I mean right now. Go tell someone you loved their work right now. They're on social media just say it, it has never been easier

"They know how much people love--" no they don't go say it right now to a composer or artist or game dev or writer or anyone AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

Ugh, I'm sorry, I can relate with this stress. I've also been incessantly worried about what my Medicaid is going to be like when it all changes next year. Really hope we (and everyone else) find more work soon.😔

It would be extremely nice if could go like.. a week.. without any soul-hurting news. 🫠

Even before they get an answer to this bet they will be effecting so many people’s lives. I don’t care about the titles or IP’s who gives a fuck if that disappear it’s the people who make the things that matter and the product is meaningless and vapourware without them doing their jobs.

Some close up details I photographed while touring the SS Lane Victory - a merchant mariner ship that served in WWII, Vietnam, and the Korean War. (PT. 1 🧵)

🗺️ San Pedro, CA

Narrow hallow on the main deck of the ship. Lots piping and wiring is exposed with some rusting. A close up of some of the piping. A narrow catwalk at the side of the ship that's on a hinge allowing it to be raised at one end with a pully to create stairs leading to an upper deck. An industrial exterior light found in the same hallway with a decent amount of rusting.

“When I see that, I worry that they might face serious trouble down the line if they don't take it more seriously.”
Hirohiko Araki addresses Al art in his latest book:
"Recently, I came across a drawing that perfectly mimicked my art style. I thought 'I don't remember drawing this' only to find out it was Al, I was shocked, this is truly evil and a tool for scammers"

In this post there is a photo of Hirohiko Araki, creator of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure next to Giorno from the series. By Hirohiko Araki. It’s titled “Today’s World of Con Artists” and it reads: Speaking about 'societal evils, I think that as Al continues to spread throughout society, we're going to see an increasingly shady world filled with scammers exploiting it. Recently, I came across a drawing and thought, "This is something I drew, right?" I was shocked to find out it was actually created by Al. When I draw manga, I add subtle, personal elements that make the work uniquely mine. But this Al-generated piece even mimicked details like the way I draw eyelashes, so precisely that it was almost impossible to tell it apart from my work. If it were based on recent drawings, I'd know right away, "No, I didn't draw this." On the other hand, I honestly wouldn't be able to tell the difference if it were done with my art from about ten years ago, when my memory of it would be a little hazy. The more Al advances, the more this kind of thing will happen.
Art reflects the times, and manga is one example of that. Seeing this world of con artists appear in manga could very well mean that we're headed for a future world dominated by fraudsters. This type of 'evil' in today's age will undoubtedly end up impacting manga down the line.
Copyright infringement by Al is also a 'villain' that we manga artists must face. The extreme scenario is that Al-generated fakes might start being accepted as the "real thing," and even if we try to protect our work, these counterfeits are becoming so accurate and sophisticated that it's no longer a fight an individual can win. Having some kind of laws would probably be the only way to regulate this. However, because we're dealing with a world of con artists, there's also a very real possibility that laws favoring them will appear before we know it. Personally, I entrust my copyright management to Shueisha, but some manga artists are lax in managing their copyrights, leading to others using their artwork without permission or even leaking original drawings.
