This is the last picture I have of my guys together, taken just a couple weeks ago. Our big, plush stripey Sacco left us very unexpectedly sometime early this morning. He was 15 and I knew he wasn’t going to live forever, but I also… totally believed he was going to live forever.

So for context, this man was my great grandfather. I have several years worth of letters he wrote prior to his murder, which happened when he was not even 30. He was a Sicilian immigrant who ran a corner store in Utica and had two kids before he was 25. He was not a “philanthropist” lmao. 🧵
