Just in time for this sweater fresh off the blocking boards. Pattern was improvised using trial -error -more error -frogging. The shaping is so that I can wear it bra less if I choose. The cables make me happy. The yarn is onion dyed by @serendipitouswool.bsky.social . #knitsky

Done! For me traditional heel flaps are harder to darn. Also, when I knit my socks too short they wear in weird places. 🥴 That’s visible in some of the mends.

Glad I got this done before the cool weather arrives. There’s something truly special about sliding my feet into hand knit socks. #knitsky

Did you know that I gleefully take custom orders? And yes, even if you know how to knit you can still order something one of kind from me.

For bridal, daily use, and gifts. DM me and let's chat.
-A cardigan for you?
-A sweater for a graduate?
-A shawl for a special occasion?
-A hat for big hair?

Ugh. I swear I spend more time darning socks than wearing them! 😭 But hand knit socks are the best and repair over replacing is better for us all.

Do you darn too? Does it feel like a chore?

See you in a few hours… #knitsky

Flock was about more than buying stuff. Yes, it’s a marketplace (and it was lovely) but I didn’t focus on ‘acquisition’.

I bought art I’ve been coveting, art from Black women, & art with practical uses for me. Yarn, hand towels, a sticker, a ring, pest repellent spray, and some markers. #knitsky

Were you wondering what I wore to Flock? Or my knitting at the meetup? Here ya go! All for sale on my website.

Green - Wafla Cardigan
Gold- Adventure tank
Striped- One of A Kind Cardigan
Hat- Cable Up

Grab all 4 and dm me so we can chat about yarn. #knitting #knitsky

Meet Carter Gables: handsome, practical, and cabled.

A bold cable on front and a wide garter panel on back. Knit toe up beginning with a unique tab toe and an afterthought heel.

As long as the yarn is wool, plied, and sock weight it's fair game. Find the pattern on my site. #knitsky #knitting

This pattern has been waiting for a loooong time, y'all.

Stay tuned for this cabled sock pattern end of July. Too excited to wait? Head over to Rav or my site. Knit a pair of DK weight socks in the meantime. What's your fav color for sock knitting? Me? I love variegated socks.

I'm teaching at Knit City Vancouver! Meaning we can meet & learn together IRL (as the kids say lol).

My One of Kind Hat class covers yarn choice, fit, & cable choices. I'm bringing a pile of swatches and lots of knowledge.

FYI Vancouver is mostly English speaking and safe. Will I see you there?

Happy pride from someone who:

-is Black
-is cisgender
-is bisexual
-uses she/her/hers pronouns
-is in a heterosexual appearing relationship
-came out well into adulthood and only to some people
-and is SO PROUD of queer folx in all the ways you show up

Happy pride from me!

I’m grafting the last few stitches on my favorite heel for socks: afterthought. I learned this via @knitty.com at least 15 years ago. This is the first time I’m using a darning egg to stretch the fabric so I can see better. How did I not think of this before?!

I've been promising this one for a looonnng time. Things happen, thanks for waiting for me to get it together.

Meet: Laaazzzy Cable Lid (in 5 sizes)

Get ready because Friday is the day! Thanks
@bawlmergirl for the name for this relaxing hat.

Ready your needles for a fun spring cast on!

For the Cable Up hat, I created a spicy cable. It's a bit tricky so I thought y'all *might* wanna watch me do it. Don't worry, it's used sparingly. I'm not into a bunch of excitement when I knit. And yes, I *had* to use a 3rd needle this time. Watch the vid, buy the pattern on my site, and dive in!

We attended the Lapu Lapu festival in Vancouver yesterday. The violence occurred after we left so we’re safe. It occurred directly behind our school. My condolences to the Filipino community in particular.

And now for photos...

For patterns, I do the editing myself. This time w/ colored pens and correction tape; outside in the sun. It was magical.

It probably looks a bit like chaos, it kinda is. Art imitating life. And it’s possible that the pattern still won’t be *perfect*. Life imitating art?

I guess I’m a real Canadian now? Made my first ever Caesar! In Tofino, I had a Caesar with jalapeño vodka. Figured it was easy enough to try at home. Garnish is a celery stick, jalapeño stuffed olive, beef stick, and old bay dusted imitation crab & old bay rimmed glass. Don’t be too shocked lol.

It’s done! Sample 3 of my upcoming pattern is all knit up. I chose a name suggested by one of you talented wordsmiths. 🧐

Next, is blocking and photos. This is the perfect hat for the ‘not quite warm enough’ time of year we’re in. Start digging in your collection for those plant fiber yarns.

This one is almost done. Only crown decreases left and it’ll be ready for you in March. I made some changes.

1-It’s extra long like the teal, kids version.
2-A larger size so it can fit me easily (I can’t stand a tight hat.)
3-And stripes because with color, I believe ‘more is more’.

I knit this sweater early in process of grieving my dad. It took two-ish years to actually finish it and put it on. I’m glad that I did. The joyful colors are directly at odds with how I was feeling while making it. This is a reminder to you to make the things. Art is valuable for us all.

I love working with fiber folks to design knitting patterns to bring eyeballs to their products and build excitement from long time customers.

A hat for spring? A shawl for a KAL? Got a yarn that people keep picking up but never taking home?

Get a size inclusive design to fit your brand's needs.

Here’s my first try at the collar for this guy. I don’t love it. I’m thinking the cable should be on the left so the fold doesn’t obscure it. But also, maybe this ribbing isn’t the right choice. It lacks the structure I would want from of collar and it’s longer than the patterns beside it. Hmmm
February 13, 2025 at 11:36 PM
Here’s Cable Up! I’ve styled it two ways here. We both know that you already have a beautiful skein of fingering weight yarn that you can use. 🤫😉 Knit with a US 2 so it’s squishy and plush and stretchyyyy.
Pick up the pattern on my site and cast on. DisturbingtheFleece.com

News is coming at us hard and fast. Lofi music really helps me focus and calm down. As does keeping my hands busy.

Here's 60 seconds of no talking, just my brown hands making and chill music in the background. Watch it as many times as you need and let me know if you want more of this.
