With the far-right party ahead in the polls, I discovered that a novel set during the rise of the Nazis provides a timely warning, says journalist Tania Roettger

Today on #MakerAdvent I am "Cleared Hot" to take a day off, so join me as I fly an Apache AH-64A attack helicopter gunship. I bought Cleared Hot the other day on Steam for £12 and it is proving to be a fun distraction.

Lorenzo Bandini was born #OnThisDay in ’35. #OnThisDay in 2012, which day would have been his 77th birthday, his widow Margherita posted on her Facebook page the following letter to him. She wrote it in Italian. Here’s an English translation, impossible to read with dry eyes.

Day 353 - #retrorandom - It's my Triumph Adler Alphatronic again! Sold only through TA's typewriter outlets, this rather expensive 64K Z80 machine was bought by almost no one (and has little to no software either). However, it's a pretty good CP/M machine if you can find the floppy drives for it.

"To be a Garland fan is to have the illusion that you can save her from the wounds of the world..."

A wonderful and too true statement one can apply to other stars: Gloria Grahame; Jean Seberg; Marilyn Monroe....
‘To understand the greatness of Judy Garland, don’t start with The Wizard of Oz, where the effect of watching and hearing her sing “Over the Rainbow” a mere five minutes in is so exquisitely intense that it’s hard to retain your critical faculties.’

I'd assert that a Pi is plenty of horsepower for nearly all tasks except gaming. As for the "large database" argument for a mini-PC, I disagree. I've tested a terabyte-scale DB on an Orange Pi 5 Plus, and it was plenty fast.
