If you ever get the chance, take the SF ferry to Larkspur then ride the SMART Train up through Marin and Sonoma County to wine country. You’ll see some gorgeous wetlands.

My dad famously asked a woman out on a date to go get brunch. She got all dressed up only for him to pull into Costco & tell her “eat all the samples you want and if you’re still hungry we’ll get hotdogs.” They’ve been married for 20 years now.

To you point about legends, John Romero recently had financing issues stalling out his game too.
And I wonder about the game that Gilbert worked on with Romero (Slipgate era) that never came to fruition. So much talent on that dev team.
