It should be: trust the scientific method. It will in most cases lead to much better results. This is a subtly different way of communication - honest, not arrogant - and may generate trust rather than scepticism.

Proposed NOAA budget zeros out ALL climate laboratories and cooperative institutions.

GFDL, NSSL, GML, etc.

This appears to also end the US greenhouse gas sampling network, including at Mauna Loa, the oldest continuous carbon dioxide monitoring site on Earth.

Nein - der Autor ist kein naiver Bewunderer von Thiel, sondern zeigt nur die Faszination auf, die von ihm für viele ausgeht. Wenn Welt-Herausgeber und viele junge Männer heute glauben, die Zerstörung von Institutionen sei etwas tolles, muss das doch herausgearbeitet werden.

We had a really interesting talk by Mathias Rotach from @uniinnsbruck.bsky.social here at @wegenercenter.bsky.social. He showed us the complexity in modeling the mountain boundary layer, and that it is still a long way to robustly represent climate change in local mountain valleys.

Weil sie wissenschaftlich teilweise nicht haltbar ist und in vielen Aspekten sehr schwammig, viele der aufgezeigten Ereignisse gab es bereits ohne Klimawandel, die Aufteilung über Warming Levels ist willkürlich. Kurz: die Grafik schafft sehr viel Unklarheit.

Evtl. hat die deutsche IPCC Koordinierungsstelle die übersetzt (z.B in der SPM). Für Ö ist eine in Planung, wird aber erstmal mit Forschung unterfüttert. Am besten Birgit Bednar Friedl vom @wegenercenter.bsky.social fragen, die leitet die Aktivitäten in Ö und war CLA des Europakapitels in AR6 WG2.

When walking through the forest searching for Salamanders I thought for some seconds that nature doesn't really care about what we and politicians and Trump are doing. But while this is correct, the idea of nature as an untouched idyll is dangerously wrong and misleading kitsch.

Totally expected, but it still sucks.

Probably the most for all the work that so many of us put in on behalf of US taxpayers that is now wasted and will never come to fruition.

The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) has undertaken a review of its award portfolio. Each award was carefully and individually reviewed, and the agency has determined that termination of certain awards is necessary because they are not in alignment with current NSF priorites.

Effective immediately, the following are terminated:

NSF Award Id

NSF is issuing this termination to protect the interests of the government pursuant to NSF Grant General Conditions (GC-1) term and condition entitled 'Termination and Enforcement,' on the basis that they no longer effectuate the program goals or agency priorities. This is the final agency decision and not subject to appeal.
