I only know a couple of them, honestly. There's a lot of insider baseball talk about things (WTAF is "Smosh"??) and people (often with nicknames/internet pseudonyms).

It's just a pattern I've seen play out before.

Everyone is SO COOL to the point of being totally unassailable until something finally breaks and only then suddenly everyone hates them.

Up to and including some of the Dropout and Critical Role adjacent people.

See: Satine.

😂

I've almost always had that vibe from L.A. geek/nerd social circles. It's a step away from Hollywood. The area seems to breed that into people.

I tend to keep quiet because EVERYONE thinks the streamers there are SO COOL and I have a... reaction when people act that way about other humans.

There's a line from the Behind The Bastards episodes on WeWork that still rings thru my head:"Handing someone [hundreds of millions of dollars] is like handing them a mental illness."

We could just ... not do that. Having enough wealth to ignore societal duties is bad for society *AND* billionaires

Another reason to mourn the loss of Dragon and Dungeon.

Alas.

You got me curious so I went and looked at the Google photos for the shop and I can't tell if I missed an upstairs area somehow or not because they definitely changed up their layout and shelves within the last few years.

All four of the 20-somethings behind the counter were scrolling on their phones. Gonna be all "back in the day" here but I recall game shop clerks at least flipping through game books or card packs. 😅

They were quick to help customers, though, and friendly!
