For new folks joining, there's no Algorithm here, it's strictly who you follow on your main feed, so my advice:

* Follow liberally (by the time I see somebody a few times, I'll usually drop them a follow)
* Block even faster (life's too short to give your limited attention to assholes)

A federal judge didn’t “steal” the Commander-in-Chief’s powers—she ruled that DoD exceeded the limits Congress set. That is the rule of law working as designed. What threatens the Republic isn’t judicial review, but officials who insist they’re above it.

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

Chat GPT’s primary use case in chat bots are hyper specific non agentic beings

Any one who uses that beyond a certain threshold has an issue

And while we should have infrastructure to support them , there’s no tweak of tech that can ignore

Some of us have been advocating this going back since chatGPT launched. It also has other benefits: correcting someone else's work is actually a really good way to learn something yourself.

But when we describe whether "The economy" is good or bad, we do it based on the views of the 3.4 million richest Americans, not from the viewpoint of the 338 million normal Americans.

Stocks up, layoffs up, salaries down? Good economy!

Stocks down, unemployment down, salaries up? Bad economy!

Again, the normal response to the ads would be we have no intention of issuing illegal orders.
For over 300 years now, it is a bedrock principle in Anglo-American constitutionalism that obedience is owed according only to law. Refusal to follow an illegal command is not only a moral choice but an absolute duty.

‼️ Friends, this is very important. Please share to whoever this may concern, especially if you are in the United States.

Ukraine wants peace. Lasting, just, sustainable peace, and not a pause before the next bloodbath. I cannot stress this enough.

My family left Ukraine about 15 years before the Holodomor, but my great-great-grandmother survived it. Today is Holodomor Remembrance Day:

"The Ukrainian Dream is to be left the fuck alone for 50 years," makes a lot of sense in historical context.

Since I learned about this a week ago, I keep thinking about how there are people who spent decades studying the T Rex and are just now learning that what they based their understanding on was not, in fact, a young T Rex,

But an entirely different species.

We don’t need to reform ICE.
We don’t need alternatives to ICE.
We don’t need to engage in dishonest debates wondering what the U.S. would do without ICE.

ICE isn’t even 23 years old. Most adults know a world without ICE. And the billions used to fund ICE can be used to meet people’s basic needs.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.
