Ready to dump a pile of snow down the back of my neck.

My spotted plecostomus suspended as if deciding what to do next. Usually either very active or stationary on the bottom, this was an interesting face to face.

I grew up with the sound of the hand made Kahlenberg engines in fish tugs like these on their way out to Lake Michigan and later in the day chugging back surrounded by screaming herring gulls scrambling for discarded fish parts.

Rudy needed a home and I needed a trail companion. Rudy was a gentleman and had a calming effect on people and insecure dogs. Then Ruben asked me to adopt him and to avoid confusion we called him Ben. They became pals. Ben would sit for treats with the dogs.

In the 1970's I built a 20' high swing set of my own design. Twenty-some years later my adult son was still swinging above the bar. In the interest of safety I took it down but it made for many memories.

Reykur was my Icelandic Shepherd in 2010. He was probably the smartest dog I ever knew.

He whose favorite two words are "You're fired" is "hiring" people that can be fired before they even start on the basis of incompetence.

I'm new here. I'm a retired family physician widowed less than 2 years. I write stories and poems. I used to write articles for our local astronomy club whose weekly newsletter I edited for years. I gave adult classes on a variety of topics. I look forward to both fun and edifying interactions here.
