The longest-running, still updated Doc Savage website. We're the holding company for the Flearun and the Bronze Gazette.
I believe Spook Hole is the one, but ambergris also figures in Colors for Murder: A kidnapping, a killing, and a young woman on the run set Doc on an explosive trail of conspiracy and intrigue that leads straight to a group of mysterious, multicolored whales!

It is development hell. Conde Nast, Sony, Shane Black, and Johnson have moved on. CN hoped the new James Patterson Brandt "Doc" Savage would take off, but it didn't. The Black script is out there. It is not your grandfather's Doc Savage.

One from the war years: "Doc is lured to the criminal hideout of an evil genius and an experiment with the incredible Vitamin M — a nutrient that can make a man incredibly smart — or terminally stupid!"

As you know (but others may not) Patterson did not "write" a Clark Savage, Jr. book. Thankfully. And as someone who tried his ruination of the "Doc Savage" name, I will also attest they were unreadable. And I read Se-Pah-Poo. So I know trash. :)

I discovered SF & Doc Savage as a child (I'm probably around your dad's age.) A lot of the Doc Savage novels & mythos have issues, but some sidestepped the problems. In '85 NPR did radio versions of a couple of the novels. The episodes are hosted here: fourble.co.uk/podcast/savage

Well "Doc Caliban" and "Lord Grandrith," but I get your point. As for the sexual imagery, it was the late 60s, after all. :)

You have sequels that don't quite have as much of that imagery: "Lord of the Trees" and "The Mad Goblin." And those are followed by "The Monster on Hold."

I believe one of them is in the La Plata, MO Preservation Society exhibit:

Aside: Doc Savage reprint artist Doug Rosa (The Land of Terror) painted the covers for Mundy's Tros of Samothrace reprints in the late 60s/early 70s

I hope you had the chance to read the whole series ..except Se-Pah-Poo -- no one should have to read that. :)

Would you update it or leave it set in the 1930s?

Losing a collection leaves a space that has a weight. I'm sorry it happened to you both. Have either of you tried to again collect the Doc reprints?
