Hi, I’m Allison!

Here’s the things I usually post or talk about:
- Memes and jokes 🤣
- My nerdy interests 🎮
- Painting Warhammer minis 🖌️
- My writing journey 📖
- Astronomy 🔭
- My cat, Elsie 🐈

On top of that, I always strive to be positive and uplifting. But be warned, there’s occasional chaos too!

There is an irony that the private gender clinics here in the UK often come as a lifesaver. They certainly did for me.

He fought to save those who saw him as nothing.
He did what was necessary to keep the city safe.
She focussed on the true threat while the rest were at each other’s throats.
And she took charge when a leader was needed.

All strived to save as many as they could—but most of all those they held dear.

Every smartphone in the world contains a CPU descended from one designed by a trans woman in the 1980s. The Matrix is one of the most influential movie franchises of all time. Electronic music was pioneered and popularized by a trans woman. I could go on

i think my favourite part about being a trans woman is how much of an impact we have on culture. a friend reminded me today about a popular meme format she created. another friend today casually told me about how she was the most notorious roblox hacker when she was a child.

just a day in the life!

Probably goes without saying as well, if you do feel like you have that confusion of ‘do I want to be with her, or do I want to BE her’…

Have you ever considered you might be trans?
doctorallisona.bsky.social
I’m actually quite looking forward to it. I really enjoyed how the book was a much more light-hearted, hopeful story compared to A Song of Ice and Fire, and I’m really hoping it’s the same with this series compared to Game of Thrones.
doctorallisona.bsky.social
It is such a frustrating source of confusion!

Y’know, one interesting I found about being trans lesbian was that it made things very difficult to figure out growing up.

Like, there was definitely that confusion of ‘do I want to be with her, or do I want to BE her?’

Took ages for me to realise it could in fact be both.

Happy international lesbian day!

Am I a lesbian? Probably!

Do I have a girlfriend to confirm that? Not yet!

And this isn’t even bringing up the fact that the wait is only for a FIRST appointment.

Actually getting HRT—including a gender dysphoria diagnosis and health checks—takes several more appointments across a whole year with the NHS. And if you’re neurodiverse or have other health conditions? Longer.
doctorallisona.bsky.social
Oh, and I actually ended up waiting a total of 48 months (4 years) for that first appointment, by which point I had already gone to a private clinic for a diagnosis and prescription, and then had been on HRT for 3 years.

When my GP doctor first referred me to an NHS gender clinic back in 2018, she said she had to call them up to confirm the wait time she was told—at that point, 40 months.

She told me she couldn’t quite believe it and it really shocked her.

Also another interesting one:

With how long ancient Egypt existed, there likely would have been people living in ancient Egypt actually studying ancient Egypt.

you ever think about those real weird overlaps. like tennessee williams might have listened to the ramones

One of my favorites:

It was possible for Abraham Lincoln to send a fax to a samurai.

Any trans person who begins their transition today is exhibiting more courage than most people will in their entire lives.

Joy is just as important as survival.

The world might be cruel, but that doesn’t mean you should only exist in a state of struggle.

You deserve laughter, comfort, adventure and love.

Seek out things that make you happy, no matter how small.

Of course, with the particular TV channel it’s on forever doing endless reruns, I’m inevitably going to watch through the entire series again!

I am once again watching the finale of Friends.

Weird to think it was also the first episode of the show I actually watched, in fact on the day it originally aired back in 2004. Even without any context of the rest of the series it was still very enjoyable!

And now with that context, even more so.

Y’all want a hard truth? The world should be grateful most trans people are as kind and graceful and patient as they are.

I’ve seen how cishet people act when they believe they’re being mistreated, and let me tell ya, we could be so much worse.

Suffice to say, conversations can be interesting.

Particularly the way they always end with the main character flatly saying, “I should go.”
doctorallisona.bsky.social
With that last line, I can’t help but reads this like a conversation from Mass Effect!

I got a chance to play Timesitters 2 multiplayer only once, but it was awesome!

So glad I was able to pick up Future Perfect myself later. Equally as awesome!
