Even when confronted with a 🇺🇸 #NationalSecurityStrategy planning their ouster, our centrist leaders have been silent in response.

Merz's much-lauded 'end of the Pax Americana' speech only spoke of US isolationism, not aggression.

But the 🇪🇺Defence Commissioner just said the quiet part out loud:
The EU Commission's lone truth-teller explains what the US really wants
"Americans are planning to fight against the EU, against our strength through unity, since in their vision the EU can become threatening to American interests," says the EU Defence Commissioner.

Even if Donald Trump ordered airstrikes on Chicago and Phoenix tomorrow the Republicans would still keep him in the White House out of fear that his fall would open the way to a factional civil war within the Right that the party would never recover from.

Kaja Kallas: we have to be really clear-eyed. We have one aggressor and one victim. And the one that needs security guarantees is Ukraine, not Russia.

'The frontline is everywhere," warned new UK MI6 chief Blaise Metreweli today. Highlighting a wave of inter-connected threats to western democracies, she added: "We are now operating in a space between peace and war.”
Britain’s new female MI6 chief wants to do things differently
Blaise Metreweli roved widely in her first speech as boss of Britain’s foreign intelligence service — implicitly suggesting China needs to be handled differently to the “aggressive, expansionist and revisionist” Russia.

Mass protests in Bulgaria forced a government resignation, showing their effectiveness. Yet resignations often act as safety valves, letting ruling parties to regroup. Since 1989, this has locked the country in a recurring cycle of crisis and protest without breaking underlying power structures.

European migration policy is trapped in an endless cycle where governments panic over numbers only to then face labour shortages which trigger another surge leading to another panic over numbers that then leads to labour shortages...
New post just out:

"The Overshoot"

Net migration is collapsing, and will fall further over the coming years. We could even have net emigration.

What does that mean for the country and the political narrative as we head towards the next election?

Some countries are heading into a reverse Enlightenment. An age of bullshit, irrationality, and idiocy. The US is rushing headlong to the cliff edge while the UK is just eroding it's capacity by ignoring the obvious crisis in the research sector
Well, this is an utter disaster for science.

This gutting of peer review is very likely driven by Project 2025/OMB/Vought, very likely is about funding junk science, and very likely is coming for #NIH and biomedical research next.
