Vertical key art for FriendOS. On the left is a red fox in battle knocking out a baseball, with bullets flying past them and a duck jumping in to help. On the right is a deer in Bliss, who has just caught a big fish. In the top middle is Astron, with one eye "open." In the middle is the game's logo, FriendOS.

14 years after leaving spawn KurtJMac made it to the far lands. I was in my mid 20s when he left. Many musings and chats on space travel since and he's finally there.

finally some normal fucking people on reddit
A reddit post in r/mildlyinteresting titled: "I add a layer of paint to this quarter whenever I’m in a meeting". The associated picture shows a rounded conical glob of blueish white paint on top of a yellow kraft paper square, with a paint-riter+ pen behind it, on a desk. A comment by the author of the post named "nominyomom":

Some information:
  - The coin has been in progress since February 2025.
  - Daily standup is the biggest contributor.
  - Engineering at Big Tech is 90% figuring out what everyone is doing.
  - I’ve emptied 2.75 Markal Paint-Ritter+ pens.
  - I also add colors with Expo and Sharpies but those don’t add much thickness.
  - The paint blob never fully dries, it takes fingerprints very well and sags due to gravity and surface tension
  - If it ever gets misshapen, I add a bunch of the paint, it softens up and surface tension pulls it back into symmetry.
  - The quarter is a State Quarter, but I have forgotten which state.
  - if the meeting is especially useless, I lift it to my nose and take nice big whiffs.

i don't think it matters much if someone else does it first, since nobody else is going to do it in the way you *specifically* would convey it

honestly the entire ending paragraph hits hard as hell. I feel like this is the most I've ever seen someone that isn't a furry Get It.
screenshot of an online review of a furry art show. there's a photo of a brick building with 3 tall windows. each has a single red neon sign in them. "DIGGER", "RUNNER", "LISTENER". text beneath:

Digger, Listener, Runner (2025) by Brett Hanover (with Eve Hoyt)

Furry is about sex and desire, but at its core, it’s really about friendship—about the rare occasion of becoming actually
visible to another person. Making art is a fight to be seen, to determine the image of ourselves rather than exist constrained by the distorted images that dominate media; images that have nothing to do with what it actually feels like to be human. To live without that is death-in-life. What do we wish for our friends, who we love and who make our life worth living? That they stay alive in every sense. So, that is all to say that I really liked this work of neon text art that co-curator Hanover made for the windows of “Room Party,” drawn from this quote from Richard Adams’ novel Watership Down:

All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

May we be wise enough to embrace art as cunning, strange, and necessary as that in “Room Party.”

Found this on TikTok and it made me emotional ❤️

Artists create universes from nothing.

Being an animator is an intimate understanding of life, environments, physics, what it MEANS to be alive, and the ability to convey the beauty within our world in seconds.

a headshot icon of a black cartoony dog doing a gleeful expression. they're pure black with white outline aside from blue-red ear lining and yellow eye lining. they lack a mouth. they wear a white collar with a cresent moon charm and a cloak that's split to red and blue (the opposite colors of the ears) a paw is risen up which is floating like a mii

Something I think Hollow Knight's designers were very savvy in avoiding—and that *way* too many games do willingly—is pigeonholing themselves to a genre term. Nothing wrong with making a metroidvania or a roguelike, but proclaiming it as such can be limiting creatively or in terms of player fantasy.
William Pellen, designer and co-director of Team Cherry: Sometimes as we were making the game and other similar games were coming up, indie games, you'd hear people say 'oh my god, another Metroidvania game, why do they keep cranking these out?' And you think, like, 'All it means is a game set in a large, interconnected world.' We pretty much shied away completely from describing the game ourselves, in marketing and stuff, as a Metroidvania.

Gibson: There's a tangential element to that, which is, do you let a genre dictate decisions in your own game? Do you make a conscious decision that you're making something that is a Metroidvania, and build off the conventions of that? I don't think we ever did anything like that. We just said we're going to make an adventure in this big world, and let's build an interesting world with lots of things to discover and see, and hopefully keep people engaged throughout.
