I’ll try to do a little something, just depends on how much free time I can manage to get between now and then.

Over the years I’ve seen criticisms of Hikari’s design, saying “it’s just the animators being perverted creeps” and “nobody in the real world would actually dress like this.” And while the former is *probably* true, the latter is not.

One thing I don't really like about this episode is how abrupt Zenigame's exit is. The episode plays out more or less like the last firefighting one, except this time Zenigame decides it just *has* to go with the others, for some reason...?

The build up to this definitely could've been done better.

Waitaminute, did Fushigidane and Zenigame ever have this sort of dynamic before?

They saved these little Pippi dolls from the burning houses ❤️

R.I.P. to all those people in the front row, I guess 🙏

I'm sorry, but Junsar should've been disqualified for the blatant cheating on display here. An outsider jolts her team awake in the middle of a match, and then a fifth Pokémon steps in to help guide them to victory...? Seems a bit unfair to all the other contestants!

I really like this drawing of Satoshi's Zenigame 😎

Yay, more Johto Pokémon!

I think the drought might finally be over.

Everyone's favorite (???) firefighter Russsell is back! Um, sure, OK! I didn't think he was ever that popular or interesting enough of a character to bring back, but whatever!

Kazuo Hayashi returns to voice him.

English, meanwhile, is still perfectly fine apparently.

The Zenigame Gang's firefighter jackets get their ぜ ("Ze," as in "Zenigame") symbols retconned away.

We'll see this more and more as the show goes on, with the Nibi and Hanada Gyms renovations being the ones that immediately come to mind.

Also why in the world would the show dump Heracros so early on!?

The team building decisions in Johto were truly wild.

Kanto starter farewell episodes:

Episode 134: Lizardon
Episode 147: Zenigame
Episode 225: Fushigidane

I doubt we'll ever get it, but I would love to get an official explanation behind the decision to allow Fushigidane to stay on the show a full year and a half longer than its peers.

Looking back, the Rediba episode is literally the first and only time Beroringa ever uses this attack

bsky.app/profile/doga...
Remember when this show used to just give random attacks to Pokémon, dozens of episodes after their debut, without any fanfare whatsoever?

One thing that has **always** bothered me about this episode is how Satoshi and his friends -- who just spent a whole entire day trying to help this little boy trade away his Sonansu -- don't seem to be able to put two and two together to realize that Musashi's the one who ended up with his Pokémon?

This whole sequence is just so perfect

It's the return of the Koiking Salesman! If you don't count Joy and Junsa, this Koiking Salesman here is the first Kanto/Orange Islands character to make his second appearance in a Johto episode!
February 5, 2026 at 3:41 PM
This is such a nice little scene. Kasumi really loves her Koduck, apparently!
February 5, 2026 at 3:41 PM
Is the show's weird aversion to actually showing Johto Pokémon finally over? Has the embargo finally been lifted?
February 5, 2026 at 3:41 PM
Why was she in this episode LOL
