Fortunately the BBC is giving it a
lot of coverage this morning.

I watched Laura Kuensbergh's show for the first time in ages. I was so pleased that Tracy Brabin called out Richard Tice for only mentioning that China is a threat to the North Atlantic, and not mentioning Russia.

A good move.

Ofcom did have guts when it was led by Sharon White. It has gone downhill since she left.

Thanks, Paul, for all you've done this year. You've had some fantastic achievements despite your personal loss. Happy new year to you and your family.

Here they try to back it up a little bit, citing a Guardian report. One problem, though: that Guardian article is from 2015. Ten years ago. Since then, the BBC has introduced widespread VPN blocking (as anyone who’s tried to watch iPlayer using one knows).

Little bonus from the filing. The second paragraph here takes a general claim about VPN use in Florida and imagines everyone’s using it to watch the BBC.

But the first paragraph is missing something: notice it has absolutely no supporting reference. They’re just claiming it, sans evidence.

Here’s the full original story in @thenewworldmag.bsky.social from several weeks ago, where we pointed out the issues in Prescott’s dossier:

EXCLUSIVE: Michael Prescott himself doctored Trump quote in his anti-BBC report
A report alleging Panorama broadcast misleading Trump quotes contains misleading quotes itself

Now, why didn’t Trump’s lawyers just include the sentence in the quote, like Michael Prescott did?

It’s because Prescott omitted a chunk of quote too. Trump’s lawyers have managed to cut it out of their filing, too, but they’ve done it more cleverly than him. Here’s the missing bit:

I was on jury service last year. The judge made it clear that in his view the jury system was one of the great achievements of the British legal system.

I'm glad you clarified that.

I find it difficult to believe anything the Telegraph states about the BBC when the paper is consistently biased against anything it does.

She appears to think that the only thing the British Legion does is sell poppies!

They'll fill up that spare time with lots of promos for other programmes. They do appear to be doing this more and more recently. I wonder if programme running times have been generally shortened to save money,

Thanks for writing this most interesting article. I wonder what your views are of the current state of culture on the BBC. Unfortunately finance related cutbacks have led to many losses. A reduction in high drama, radio 3 plays axed and speech content reduced, BBC 4 now largely a repeat service.
