I love them, but I cannot imagine what kind of posters they would be (I realize this is because I don’t have Facebook)

I’m sure it’s happened that way but I’m convinced most is the same as “I saw a woman buy a cart full of groceries with food stamps & a 2nd cart full of alcohol with actual money.” No you didn’t. Someone said that to you, it tickled your grievances so now it’s true & also happened specifically to you

Yeah, you could definitely tinker with small business loans to favor cooperatives. Also, more massaging the tax code to favor co-ops over other ownership models. Probably also have to give the union/company right of first refusal if a worker decides to cash out.
December 19, 2025 at 5:11 AM
Yeah, definitely. I think corporations should be able to pay out shares to their workers (or their union) in lieu of (very high) taxes. That would improve life for virtually everyone, very much strengthen democracy, & still take place entirely within the framework of the liberal republic
December 19, 2025 at 5:01 AM
Leaving aside the obvious harmonies and mechanisms that make this so, the fact that no one was ever able to improve upon the form of the liberal republic as a vehicle for delivering robust rights guarantees, labor protections, & a welfare state is a pretty big indicator imo

The old ladies at your local Dem county committee are rhetorically more radical than the average hamsic account on here these days, with the added bonus of being materially engaged in real world politics
December 18, 2025 at 9:55 PM
This is the thing about the kind of court reform we need: it would significantly disempower this particular Supreme Court, but it would make the Judicial Power much, much more robust
December 17, 2025 at 3:56 PM
Authoritarianism is incompatible with human dignity precisely because they construe dignity as an entirely aesthetic judgment subordinate to hierarchy imo

Nothing matters to him more than demotic approval. He became wealthy so he could become loved, then felt he was owed love; that the absence of love he felt must’ve been artificial. So he bought his favorite love machine, filled it full of other machines, & created a new demos to love him all day

This is the only Trump 2 inevitability I’ve actually been looking forward to

Teams that test primarily in prod fail in prod

That can only be mcardle
December 16, 2025 at 9:57 PM
Was literally thinking about asking what they could possibly be talking about, but then realized I don’t want to know
December 16, 2025 at 12:43 AM
Unrelated entirely but I would argue that this is why you can’t vote away democracy too
December 15, 2025 at 11:16 PM
I’m shocked how many people seem to think he’s speaking specifically to them and not to people who are like…journalists. Or at least have a platform?
December 15, 2025 at 9:29 PM
It’s crazy that if you’re certain kinda guy, you can just goose the turkey in the newspaper and no one gets to say anything about it
December 15, 2025 at 2:26 PM
I kinda can’t get over how badly they’ve squandered this, given their starting conditions. Yeah, lots of damage. Yeah, we’ll still be fixing it after I’m dead. But like, they could’ve done so much more damage
December 15, 2025 at 5:35 AM
And like, it’s not especially good for that because monologuing like a volkish Rasputin about the decrepit nature of Secular Europe or whatever bullshit they’re on right now doesn’t actually go very hard in the club
December 15, 2025 at 5:33 AM
It’s primary function is message testing what they’re cooking up in groupchats and quickly propagating The Line anytime something emergent happens

“I want to be someone curiously exploring his interests in political peacetime.” Okay. I wanted to make Dethklok real and be Nathan Explosion. Neither of those things materialized. Now what?
December 14, 2025 at 11:31 PM
Millennials were raised with a messianic youth delusion, which Obama08 nailed the fuck in. The rest of our lives reality has been screaming that we were never due the republic of heaven if we wouldn’t build it ourselves. Ezra Klein suffers a lot from this imo. It was supposed to just fall together
December 14, 2025 at 11:29 PM
Though I have to issue one correction to this, and it’s that I no longer thing either is partisan-restricted and, in fact, both may be something approximating the same thing

Many are saying
My grand unified theory of contemporary American politics is Everyone Is Twelve for the right and Everything Is Fandom for the left
December 14, 2025 at 8:50 PM
It’s almost a prerequisite that you be the type of person who regularly busts ass on the sidewalk then flips everyone else off and says it was on purpose. An incessant loser miasma that sticks like the smell of cat piss and ashtrays

Blockbuster sucked and people generally didn’t like it when it was around, but there were few other meaningful options
