I’m always glad when the Egg Bowl gets some hype because it’s exactly like the Iron Bowl or the Lone Star Showdown but there’s zero justification for it. Just a bunch of guys in a field trying to kill each other for nothing but the raw joy of spite

Oh I begin to feel the old buzzing in my longbones as the day approaches. Never has a November passed without the need for war. I hate Alabama and I always will and hope to fuck we can piss all over their season and make them fire their coach

This is a tough conversation to have basically anywhere online but this is one of many reasons terms like “unlawful order” and “war crime” have much narrower meanings than casual social media discourse would suggest, & specific incidents are *always* adjudicated in court
So ok I joined the Navy in 1998 and maybe things have changed since then but I got approximately 5 minutes of training on what constitutes an illegal order and as someone involved in a weapons system *I did not have access to intel on who I was firing on until afterwards*.
We talk of refusing unlawful orders, but really that's a very high bar. It's only for orders that are manifestly unlawful, something *obviously* illegal on the face of it. And the core example of that is refusing an order to wantonly murder noncombatants, which is exactly what they are doing.

Nothing I have ever read, no class I’ve ever taken, nothing I can think of at all, was ever as affecting or did more to turn me into a feminist as seeing what men say to women online. That was like 20 years ago now & the only thing that’s changed is they’re way weirder now.
