looking at the gov. uk policies for shared parental leave and pay - I would put money on a major part of the reason it's underutilised being how fucking complicated it is. im fairly well versed in reading government policy and parts of it im genuinely struggling to understand.

This is a clear, reasoned, and compassionate letter which is maybe the only thing that's given me hope as a non-binary person in months.
This, from the Quakers, is a pretty good example of how to resist pressure from bigot lobbying groups. Effectively “we legally can allow trans people to use the loo, we morally should, and we tried it and nothing bad happened”

actually makes me feel sick that our media regulator thinks it's acceptable to use a slur to "promote debate." this is institutional transphobia.

top tip for mid-level employees out there - if a colleague makes a point about the two of you doing materially the same job while they get paid more than you, the right response isn't "well its not much of an increase after taxes anyway"

I'm baffled - where is the pushback is for the government's instance they can't raise taxes. They absolutely CAN and SHOULD raise taxes, on ppl like me who don't earn loads but could afford to pay more, but primarily on people earning like £100k+.
