We mourn every innocent victim.
We stand with the international community in calling for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages.
We must ensure lasting peace and justice for both Israelis and Palestinians. 2/2

Today marks the 2nd anniversary of the horrific Hamas attack in Israel that killed 1,200 people.
Our heart goes out to all victims, families and communities affected by this assault.
This week also marks two years of genocidal war in Gaza that has taken tens of thousands of lives. 1/2

No one should be worried about their own personal safety when they walk into a synagogue, mosque or a church.

I share my condolences to the friends and families of the victims, and to members of the Canadian Jewish community who are forced to worry about their safety when they go to worship.

The horrific violence and wanton killings at the Manchester synagogue on Yom Kippur are a tragedy that is felt throughout the world.

Places of worship should be a welcoming and safe space for people to pray and worship.

Economic anxiety is rising across Canada. Working families are facing deep uncertainty, excessive costs, and the highest unemployment rate in a decade. Yesterday I met with the PM and made it clear: now is not the time for an austerity budget. Canada needs investment, not cuts.

The world has lost a remarkable voice for our planet.

I was honoured to meet Jane Goodall and witness her kindness & wisdom firsthand. Her commitment to wildlife and the environment reshaped global awareness, & her legacy of courage, compassion, and science will endure forever. 🌍

Today in Parliament I called for an emergency debate on the Liberals' plan to dismantle Canada Post. This vital public service connects communities, supports good jobs, and must be protected. Postal workers deserve respect. Canadians deserve better.

Honoured to march with Jenny Kwan MP and Cerys in East Van to commemorate the National Day For Truth and Reconciliation.
It’s a day to remember, honour, acknowledge, learn and commit to true reconciliation and full justice with the First Peoples of this land.

Home mail delivery was - and is - a nation-building project that connects Canadians across our country. Ending it will hurt many, esp. seniors, rural folks & businesses who rely on this crucial service.
And it’s not “Ottawa” who’s giving the green light - the Liberals are.

As other countries have done, Canada must protect Canadian citizens and ensure the safety of all on the Global Sumud Flotilla who are peacefully bringing medical and relief supplies to suffering Gazans. Recognizing Palestine is necessary - but words must be backed by action.

The NDP’s Pharmacare Act is now federal law—but the Carney Liberals are dragging their heels on implementation. Canadians can’t afford mixed messages and half-measures. Every province and territory must be included. No more delays. It’s time to deliver public pharmacare for everyone.

Was delighted to chat with the Rt. Hon. Joe Clark tonight. He is a wonderful example of political decency, honour and respect. Given the tone south of the border, we need more of this in Canada.

Today I was pleased to meet with the First Nations’ Emergency Services Society of BC. Systemic gaps—from wildfire preparedness to disaster recovery—continue to leave First Nation communities vulnerable. Culturally grounded, community-driven solutions are essential to protect lives and livelihoods.

Canada’s recognition of the State of Palestine is an important step, supported by millions of Canadians and long advocated by the NDP. But this alone is not enough. Canada must work to achieve an immediate ceasefire, end the suffering in Gaza, and build a just and lasting peace.

As Rosh Hashana begins, I want to wish a Shanah Tovah to everyone celebrating.
May the new year bring all hope, reflection, sweetness and peace.
Shanah Tovah Umetukah!

Today I was pleased to meet with the Canadian Health Coalition to discuss the future of public pharmacare. With agreements already in place in BC, Manitoba, PEI, and Yukon, the federal government must uphold the Pharmacare Act and expand access nationwide.

Thanks to all participating in #DrawtheLine marches across Canada and the globe. We know that social, economic, political, Indigenous and climate justice are linked, and that a peaceful, equitable world and a healthy planet are possible.

Canada is set to miss our 2030 climate targets. Before entering politics, Mark Carney said he believed in climate action. In office, he’s ripping policies right from the Conservative playbook. It’s time to build a sustainable, prosperous, and sovereign future for all Canadians.

Met with Veterans Affairs Minister Jill McKnight to press key priorities: end lapsed spending, rehire caseworkers, support Legions, fund housing for homeless Veterans, and act on women Veterans. Our Veterans deserve better.

Today I had the pleasure to meet with Brenda Bailey, BC Finance Minister and Ravi Kahlon, BC Minister of Jobs and Economic Growth. We discussed many progressive policies to create good jobs and build a stronger Canadian economy.
