Obviously "doom disco" is the frequent descriptor I use

I used to try and describe it as "existential dread party music" which is fun but doesn't really tell you anything about the music

"Dark instrumental synth pop"? Do I fit into any existing snappy genre pigeonholes?

Help, I need a descriptive blurb for my music and I'm just totally blanking

THE DEVOURERS is lightly discounted on Bookshop.org again, stick it to Prime Day if it is indeed Prime Day.

Bookshop.org (still blocked where I am for some reason) is having an anti-amazon-prime sale, & you can my books there, including THE DEVOURERS, my queer dark fantasy/mythic realist debut about shapeshifters in the 17th c Mughal Empire & modern India, slightly discounted. It won a Lambda Award.

This terrified liberals because there was a belief that a Republican smear that would always work is that liberals "stabbed the military in the back" so we lost in Vietnam and they'd do it again
doomdisco.bsky.social
There was also a concerted effort after 9/11 to conflate "the troops" with the overall military project of the global war on terror. So any criticism of a massively expensive and ineffective multinational bloodbath was framed as "hating the troops."
doomdisco.bsky.social
Oh, absolutely. There's a secondary layer of American liberals having internalized since 1972 that they can't be perceived as "weak" on militarism and interventionist foreign policy. So they'll never argue against an invasion or providing arms to a proxy war.
doomdisco.bsky.social
American liberals treat smugly catching conservatives in hypocrisy as the highest and final victory. They don't care about military service per se but want those 10 points for Gryffindor for pointing out that a pro-war Republican avoided serving.
