This should have never happened. I’m so sorry for my NOAA/NWS friends today. 💔
Last Tuesday, I was set to give a talk on 'climate change in the Northeast' at a retirement home but had to cancel due to hourly job threats.
After nearly two weeks of overwhelming uncertainty, today it happened. I was fired from my dream of working at NOAA. I'm so sorry to everyone also affected.

A trump supporter told me that he didn't want his tax $ going towards research into "cloud shapes".
The 4/26/24 cloud shape outbreak had minimal casualties and deaths despite occurring in the Omaha metro area. This was a direct result of research, forecasting, and warnings by NOAA, NWS, and SPC

The National Weather Service, which is suffering its lowest staffing in decades, is staring down further cuts and the nomination of an agency leader they are wary of.

An attack on NSF is not just an attack on the staff working there; it's also an attack on academia as a whole. The aim is to starve out the universities and stop the training of new scholars. It's an attempt to rip out the system's roots and stems so it can't come back.

Surreal when there is literally no one else who will ever see it, sans the photo.
I should really post here more often.
I enjoyed this gorgeous severe storm all to myself in eastern Colorado near Punkin Center on July 7th, 2024.
These moments alone in an open field with nothing but desolate dirt roads and tumultuous skies are my absolute favorite.

I strongly recommend people start downloading every piece of science they can from government servers and back it up to non-government sources. Most especially from NASA and NOAA.

Showing a little Oregon love today.
While my main focus is storm photography, I also enjoy landscape and wildlife photography tremendously, so I’ll share plenty of those photos as well.
