On the off-chance they will need them, people just make appointments into the future and cancel if they’re not needed. Not saying I approve but it is one of the advantages/disadvantages of booking on an app.

Sure. The question is: is he trying to convince us or to convince himself? Labor was so eager not to be wedged on defence that they anointed the AUKUS nonsense with no time to see what a crock it really is. More than sad. Criminally cretinous.

That’s probably part of the problem. Not having any signature policies doesn’t make a failed government. And the Greens - in their current strident incarnation - have been able to achieve, not lots, but at least some concessions. Greens first maybe but preference Labor.

I feel a lot the same but I am concerned that we’re all being snowed. This government, the Voice aside, has achieved a great deal, weaving and ducking, to keep this country from the possible economic extremes. They should be applauded for that. Despair leads to Dutton and we don’t want to go there.

A large part of the reason that other countries actually need foreign aid is that we - the rich nations - have grown wealthy by exploiting them. So, foreign aid is more than transactional, buying peace, it is a moral obligation. Unfortunately a neoliberal economy does not recognise morality.
