Internet cooking some people's brains bad!

I was once asked (politely) on a plane if this was my first time visiting Ireland (born, bred, and MyHeritage profile estimates I'm 99.7% Irish or Scottish, 0.3% Finnish).

Just call it a veggie-bürger
manuelmueller.foederalist.eu
In short, you can call it a "hamburger" if it contains meat rather than ham, because everyone knows what a hamburger is; but you can't call it a "veggie burger" if it is veggie-based, because that would be confusing. 🙃
annastrolenberg.volteuropa.org
Today the EU parliament voted to ban the word burger if they are made with plant protein, instead of animal protein. 🤦🏻‍♀️

They claim it’s to stop consumers being ‘confused between meat and plant products’ - solving a problem that nobody had!

This new rule leaves a bad taste in the mouth…

Thing I just learned. “Lede” as in “bury the lede” is a deliberate misspelling of “lead”. It’s part of a lexicon of misspellings used for annotations by journalists and subs so that notes on copy are removed, rather than included in the body of the text by accident. Others include “dek” and “hed”.

I'm no legal expert but cancellation of a presidential election due to the withdrawal of a candidate has no basis in law, and would appear to be unconstitutional.
Surely Maria Steen has a copy of Bunreacht na hÉireann in her handbag?

feels like it should be a big deal that the president is directing the invasion of american cities based on what are almost certainly AI videos shown to him by his staff

maybe one of our ostensible news organizations could track down exactly what it is that he's seeing

It is notable how the supposed Trump whisperers get bashed by tariffs the same as everyone else.

“Ironic” Nazism became the default stance in online right-wing spaces and they forgot what was normal. Like I think some literally just forgot. It was everywhere they looked, their memes were infested with it, and they forgot how it reads to normies to transpose your heroes on top of a somnenrad

Jack Posobiec explicitly says that "Antifa" dates back to the Weimar Republic, explicitly acknowledging that this administration is opposed to those who resisted the arrival of Adolf Hitler in Power.
