I like Mencia. The label on this bottle says it comes from a village of 85 inhabitants that boasts 15 wineries and over 400 hectares of centenary vineyards. My kind of place! Hope we can visit Bierzo in 2026. @WineSky

🇺🇸 A Different Kind of Outrage 😲

Everone at Foggy Bottom knows Dink. The joke is that he joined right after Benjamin Franklin. Most recently, after almost 4 decades of service, he was elected to head AFSA (the union for U.S. diplomats).

He was fired yesterday.

The disrespect is intentional.

I’m concerned about the tariffs in part because of their impact on the economy. But I’m also concerned because of their effect on geopolitics. We are burning bridges like crazy these days.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

The 2019 T20 Syrah-Marselan blend from Tiansai Vineyards in Xinjiang. Our Christmas Eve wine courtesy of our daughter who visited there recently. Decent enough, a bit one-dimensional, tending towards rustic.

Elegant and expressive. Still quite fresh. Sage and leather with cherry notes. Very, very nice, a great example of the joys of Nebbiolo and of Barbaresco. Unfortunately my last bottle! 🍷
