Just spent a few days at the Key West Literary Seminar, immersed in interesting book-chat (and tropical cocktails) and astonished by all the love and support from everyone the second they heard I'm from Minneapolis. Fun with geography: Samoa (independent country) and American Samoa (U.S. territory) are only 40 miles apart but on opposite sides of the International Date Line, so for the next 21 hours, they're in different years.
