This is a crucial difference between the left and right. I read this and thought, “Go ahead; investigate them.” If someone on the left commits crimes, they should face the consequences. The right believes their people shouldn’t.

Also: Who on the left would be upset at Larry Summers going to jail?

What is he, 14 years old?
November 15, 2025 at 3:40 PM
WHAT THE AF IS WRONG WITH YOU @petebuttigieg.bsky.social? Don’t you remember this? Do you think you and Chasten are safe? I thought you studied history.

I know I sound like a broken record—does GenZ understand that metaphor?—but: These masked, un-ID’d men without warrants snatching people off the streets & taking them to unknown locations in unmarked vehicles *are kidnappers*, @govpritzker.illinois.gov. Arrest them. Charge them. They’re *criminals*.
November 12, 2025 at 8:18 PM
It *is* kidnapping, Nick. Unidentified masked men in unmarked vehicles are, without warrants or probable cause, taking people off the streets and holding them in undisclosed locations. That’s the *textbook definition* of kidnapping. It’s high time you folks in legacy media pointed it out.
November 12, 2025 at 8:07 PM
@sifill.bsky.social I keep saying this and it feels like nobody else is: If they are masked & refused to ID themselves, *there is no way to know that they are actual law enforcement*. Further, masked anonymous men without warrants or probably cause taking people off the streets *is kidnapping*.

Because it’s not happening in the northeast. Anything west of Philly might as well be occurring on the Moon.

For, what, nearly 10 years now, Sanders supporters have been denigrated, marginalized by the Dem establishment, and given insulting, dismissive nicknames like, “Bernie Bros”.

And now even this guy says @sanders.senate.gov was right. File this under “D” for “Duh!”
November 11, 2025 at 6:19 PM
@andizeisler.bsky.social This made me actually laugh out loud. I imagined it accompanied by a harpsichord.

This reminds me of Robert Davi’s comment to his puppet dictator in the James Bond film License to Kill. (Robert Davi was so good at sounding menacing.)

I had to quote-post myself because @bsky.app doesn’t allow you to have article previews and images on the same post. 🙄

Why do we never see contempt of Congress charges any more?
November 10, 2025 at 4:40 PM
@nealstephenson.bsky.social wrote this in 1994 and it’s even more true now IMO. Bezos and Musk and all the rest have just done better at piling up government money and using government services, systems, and largesse than us, as @warren.senate.gov has often pointed out.

“By masked armed men in unmarked vehicles purported to be law enforcement”.

We need to normalize calling these kidnappings and not give them the benefit of the doubt that they’re law enforcement. How tf do WE know they’re “law enforcement”? We do not. These are f**king KIDNAPPINGS.

My dad, a submariner and career navy officer, said exactly the same thing. He also noted that Balance of Terror is a submarine story. (He sometimes told us about his time aboard a diesel sub—the USS Bang— “playing grab-ass with Soviet destroyers”, as he put it.)

TBH it's opinions like this that make it hard for me to not think that Trump voters are just, well, stupid.

I mean, there's being "low information", and then there's being spectacularly ignorant and idiotic.

“What did your dad do in the navy, Doug?”

This. He did this. Later he helped design submarines.

1. Further proof the right either doesn’t understand the difference between Marxism & Socialism, or is deliberately conflating them.
2. The right’s continued efforts to use “Marxism!” as a scare word seem to be having diminishing returns here 30+ years past the Cold War.

@stephenking.bsky.social’s muse is a grumpy guy in a basement. Mine is a færie who lives in a tree a long way away and transmits her ideas through the aether, which I must pull in with one of those old-timey roof antennas. Everyone has their own, yo.

@digby56.bsky.social In all seriousness: Can anything—ANYTHING—be more Freudian?
November 4, 2025 at 9:52 PM
In case anyone gets nostalgic about Bush II. He was a horror show too, people. It’s just the difference between being in deep shit head up vs. head down.

Web site design issues like this drive me nutty. If it's not optional, don't say it is ffs.

During a government shutdown. In a bedroom named after a man who famously grew up in a log cabin.

@digby56.bsky.social As a GenXer who grew up terrified that Reagan would start a nuclear war, I’ve long been dreading the day Trump remembered he had control of nuclear weapons. www.salon.com/2025/11/02/m...
