Yes, for a single year. The climatologists won’t call it until we have 5 or 10 years over the threshold. By then we’ll be knocking on the door of 2.0 C.

We often get typhoon remnants - I just don’t think we will get these specific typhoons from the Philippines. @markspringer.bsky.social

The Philippines are awfully far west of Alaska. These storms will hit mainland China, Taiwan, Maybe southern Japan or Korea, and will fall apart before getting very far north.

Well, yes. Global sea surface temperature has risen 1 degree C since the 1980s. Local temperatures are up to 5 C higher. East of the Philippines is about 1.5 to 2.0 C warmer.
