I should correct the date to around 1800, so a bit younger than 16th century. I will trust the archivist over the news article, so, not as old as I stated in my original post—but the tradition is older than both dates. :)

Is it a tacit concession to Sibelius? I have Finale 27 but was thinking of trying out Sibelius esp since it seems iPad-friendly. Still, very surprising news.
