Dune, at age 9 or 10. I didn't understand the politics, but damn, I enjoyed the story, and liked it even more when I re-read it a few years later.

Switch to a broad or stub nib. You can buy Lamy nibs separately for about $7 or so, and they're super-easy to switch out, just pull the original one off (maybe with something rubber to grip it) and push the new one down in its place.

I feel like it's a spectrum. I like to plan some, but leave plenty of space for improvisation. The one time I planned out an outline in great detail, I hated every second of the writing experience, and I hated the final product.

I switched to pen and paper about 2 years ago, after randomly buying a fountain pen and looking for excuses to use it more often.

My dad had a Hillman Avenger. It was a tank. But more amusing, it was white, and the local police force also used white Avengers, so any time he was around, everyone else stopped speeding.
