I make your lentils and sausages every January 1, since you mentioned on your show it’s tradition in Italy. I didn’t grow up with a traditional New Years Day food, and that seemed like a good one to adopt!

I've gotten so good at quarantining news in my head that I didn't realize how I'm not processing the stuff that's actually, y'know, WORTH processing. Until a post showed up here today about the spontaneous crowds in line at Katz's Deli, and *that's* what got me almost crying at the office.

Dead Poets Society. I was still in high school and that story was aimed at my soul. In the last bit where the kids stand on their desks, I was SO CLOSE to standing up in the sold out cinema and yelling “O captain, my captain!” … I still wonder if I should have just done it.

Mary Zimmerman did an excellent job rewriting the book at the Goodman Theatre several years ago. (At least I thought so, but I love pretty much everything she does.)
