Copying across some facts (a thread that will run on, and that is entirely true if you look it up):

1. Everest is not the tallest mountain on earth. It’s also not the furthest from the centre of the earth.
This about sums it up, for me

Also agree with this
Won't be popular but thought Slot got it about right. Played well considering the state of the team's mentality. But Ibou's constant mistakes kill confidence and we collapse.

Konate yes, but Isak jogging over and not closing down allowing a bomb into the box that led to the corner that led to the corner they scored from annoyed me just as much. No excuse. He’d been on the pitch ten minutes.

And Arsenal’s. Odd season.
Earnestly a bit funny that Villa’s one loss in the last 10 came against Liverpool

If the US has anything about it at all currently - which it doesn’t - it will restage this and give her the chance to right this wrong.

You know the ‘it’s not your fault’ scene in Good Will Hunting? Having been forced to sit through Thomas and the Magic Railroad I really want to do that to @marawilson.bsky.social.

Dear lord it’s heroically badly written. No-one stood a chance.

This is great
1. Some good news at last. This week’s column is about the amazing thing a couple of us stumbled into three years ago, which we’ve now developed into a global research programme. It doesn’t change everything, of course, but it could help change quite a lot. + 🧵 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I knew that a revolution in our understanding of soil could change the world. Then came a eureka moment – and the birth of the Earth Rover Program, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Tremendous! This was the unused version of the ad where his son gave him the (excellent) Gladiator soundtrack
More importantly, though, it looks as though John Lewis Christmas Dad has a sideline in being Third Roman Spear Carrier in this series

Mentioned this to some friends earlier today but seems worth sharing on the what the hell is happening to LFC question:

When I was 20, my mum randomly informed me it was exactly ten years since my dad died. I had no idea of the exact date. Two days later I played footy… (1/4)

Jesus. He’s killing the sport, truly.
A few notes from Ben Healy on Pogacar (Roadman Podcast);

- "On La Redoute, it's a 4:30 effort, I did 495w at 62kgs and he put 15 seconds into me"
- "People go 'why is no one else trying', that's how easy he makes it look"
- "It's pretty demoralising, but at least he's the greatest of all time"

Love @robhatch.bsky.social, but we’ve got to be sending him to the ground. Can’t believe that’s not in the budget. The Ashes requires commentators on-site IMHO

(Cyclingdifferent, although it would be excellent to place a commentary booth on Alpe d’Huez or a cobbled climb).

Ah, The Ashes in Oz. Looking forward to going to bed with England 97-1 and looking good, and then waking to find them skittled for 150 and Australia on 180-2, such is tradition.

Key line on what Robertson has just said there about Jota is about him being "in a bad way" earlier today in his hotel room.

How often have they been in a bad way and just tried to crack on? We don't know and never will.

They've been poor at football at times but don't criticise their character.

Hat-trick for Harry Wilson this eve, glad he’s carved out a proper career out of Liverpool youth. Often seen in the G!RO cycling cafe in Esher, as it goes. A tiny frame, he’d make a great climber.
