All spicy autocorrect is really doing is ripping the foundations out from under the houses beginning authors will one day want to build. Yeah, you can auto-generate a book, but you won't know HOW to write a book. You won't have it hammered into your heart. And you'll miss the good part.

The root post image with an AI* note essay with its own footnotes: *AI is a much broader category in computer science than is understood by the general public meme audience but in the necessarily-oversimplifying context of a meme the intended sense seems self-evident: the current AI implementations which people interact with directly. In the past "AI" was not thought about deeply by most people and the LLM-generation are their first time knowingly† interacting with one‡. While CS-AI is certainly broader, it also does not have a formal and agreed upon definition to control what would be destroyed by this wished-for button. Do I wish this button existed and would I press it if everything down to my fuzzy logic rice cooker would stop working? Ehhhh probably given the existing and potential impacts on the state of the world from modern AI but I'd be sad about it. I'd blame the ones shovelling money into the systems that could cause so much damage for making it necessary. † Medical uses of machine learning have been powerful and they largely operate in known bounds and have proven themselves, but people don't usually interact with them directly. ‡ An exception is in video games where "AI" has been used to mean AI variants in systems with rules where the human user is the one learning the system. This button does not exist,. Video game AI doesn't seem to be actually under threat short of a Butlerian Jihad.
