I remember the last cross-examination question was about whether Sophia had been arrested. It wasn’t revealed at the time it was literally the convicted bigot who SWATTED her.
Here's a thread from Twitter shared with Sophia's permission in which she finally is able to talk about Graham using the police as HIS personal goon squad and getting Sophia arrested at home by EIGHT armed police officers, somewhat putting the standard Heathrow armed cops in perspective.

People want to live vicariously through a book or movie hero. It makes for a lot of bad books and movies.
"I DNF first-person books if I can't relate to the protagonist" is a kind of illiteracy.

The point of first person is not to insert yourself into a narrative. You are supposed to experience and empathize with the perspective of a character that is intended to be fully fleshed out.

RCBG: I enter the competition to take estrogen and grow breasts

Illiterate reader (M): No I... don't? I wouldn't do that, would I? Surely not. Surely I couldn't be anything like these absurd characters with their strange, inscrutable behaviors. I have no interest in feminizing my body whatsoever!

I'm also slowly improving at making the ideas multipurpose by default, nowadays when we're doing planning talks the ideas have at least one drama hook right out the gate and then we just pile on more ways to make it worse
The way this co-authorship works is that Beth has a funny idea that works as biting satirical humor, and I take it and slowly turn it into an emotionally devastating plot nuke
me making up a silly character like six months ago: haha she's weird and fun. surely i will never just straight up be emotionally devastated writing about her!

Cosigned. Same goes for the "don't describe the protag physically in any way bc if they don't look like me I can't relate to them" people. And the "don't give the protag a personality or quirks or foibles bc then I can't see myself in them" people.

Like, what are you, six?

When puberty blockers are allowed, we need more data. When they are banned, gathering more data is a waste of time and must be stopped.

Stop the count or count the votes? It all depends on what you want the numbers to say.

I think it's instructive to compare the GC attitude to data on puberty blockers (and trans healthcare more broadly) to this.

every time this study comes up (or other similar ones) i see people trying really, really hard to still find a way to say cis lesbians hate trans women specifically and that’s just not true.

which isn’t to say that a not insignificant number of bigoted cis lesbians don’t exist but come on
Reminder that lesbians have a more positive view of trans people than trans people do

I think there are several interesting things about that.

1. the UK manages to score worse than eg Poland, Hungary, Türkiye, which all have a very conservative discourse hegemony.

2. even with all of the press, from guardian to times, blasting transphobia for years, transphobia barely gets 50%.

Key takeaway of 2025: Bluesky is an enormous activism force that punches above its weight. The paypros censorship stuff? This site is the one that’s getting us to the 20 yard line. The initial interest in the summer hasn’t returned to Twitter, whereas Bluesky is now the de facto source on this issue
