From the very beginning, no matter how polite the language to refer to us has become over the years, we are seen as a pathology to curtail, limit, and frankly eliminate entirely if at all possible.

Harms against us are routine because our existence is seen as intolerable by cis society.

💯 there has never been a healthcare system (in Britain at least) that started from the premise that we should control our own bodies. Every change to the system over the last century has preserved doctors’ presumed right interfere in our decisions

This happens because transphobia is an institutional imperative and never considered a conflict of interest, or an impediment to providing trans people with care.

The status quo of transition care is trans people subjecting ourselves to the whims of bigots who want to humiliate and exploit us.

Disgustingly, the published 'research" in question was used to inflame discourse about a "rapid increase" in trans youth, harming the patients whose data it used!

I really think this book is a rallying cry. Because we need to fight, and we need to fight on grounds that we can actually win on, not ground that is pre-ceded to our oppressors. And Talia opens a path for us to do so with her writing.
